My name is Fabián, I have been working as a tourist guide in Colonia del Sacramento since 2007. I do think that this is a very nice job because I get to know people from all over the world, learn from them and share information and experiences. I am also a piano teacher and I love music. I like travelling because I think that it's very interesting to know about different cultures. Colonia del Sacramento is a beautifull city that has many interesting places to visit. This city was founded in the last days of January, in 1680, by a portuguese man called Manuel Lobo. The portugueses founded "la Nova Colonia Do Sacramento" in order to take a strategic point in the northern coast of Río de la Plata. Seven months later, the spaniards settled in Buenos Aires, attacked the city and took possesion of it. Portugueses and spaniards were fighting here during 97 years, because of that, going around this historical place it is possible to see different styles in the old fortress (spanish streets and others with a central drain, old houses with thick walls of stones and roof with tiles). Colonia del Sacramento was designated a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1995 and nowadays we receive more than two million tourists a year from all over the world. This charming city has about 25000 habitants and there are only two traffic lights. It is a very safe city because everybody knows everybody and the unemployment is very low. Arriving at Colonia del Sacramento we will drive along the coast. On the way, it is possible to see the widest river of the world, sandy beaches, and islands, the residential area, getting to a place called Real de San Carlos, where it is the only bullring in the region. After that, we will walk around the old city visiting the Unesco Heritage Site. During this tour, you will be able to see two different architectural styles together in this beautiful small place. Old streets, houses, the church, bastions, the wall, the lighthouse and many other things make you feel the past in each one of them. Going around step by step you will be part of this historical site. What I love about being a tour guide is to hear about different cultures and getting to know people from all over the world, learn from them and share information and experiences. The tour is delivered on an easy pace!
Our family of four had a great private tour with Fabian. The combination of a driving tour of the town followed by a walking tour of the UNESCO site was perfect. Fabian was hospitable and funny, and we enjoyed him very much. He made us fall in love with Uruguay, and we are now planning another trip there for a longer time. We are so grateful for the care he put into every detail and for the genuine connection he created with our group. If you are considering a tour of Colonia, we cannot recommend Fabián highly enough. We have an excellent trip. Fabian is an excellent guide and is highly recommended if everyone who visit Colonial and need a guide. The trip is more than I expected. Fabian explains the history of the Uruguay and the town very clearly . The wine yard trip is wonderful too. Great trip and thanks Fabian giving us a wonderful memory.
We had a fantastic day with Fabian. We drove around the area and he explained the history which as very interesting. He had bought us a Mate gourd and special straw. We found a place under a tree and he explained this tradition and we drink some Yerba Mate. Then I him suggest a place to eat in the old town area and it was really great! Thank you for a great day and the cups you picked up for us!!

The tour itinerary is the following: - Coast line, beach - San Carlos Bullring - The Pier - Squares, Houses and streets of the Colonial period - Lighthouse - Bastions - Old Church Tour ends.
