Hello, and welcome to Devon. My name is Alex, and as an award winning tour guide I can organise wonderful days out for you in this most beautiful and intriguing area of England. I won the title of Top UK Guide at the Wanderlust World Guide of the Year Awards at the end of 2018, and have won many other prestigious tour guiding awards, including Gold at the Southwest Tourism Awards in England. I have lived in Devon all my life, and am very passionate about sharing what it has to offer. I have spent a vast amount of time getting to know the area in order to be able to show my guests the very best that it has to offer. From the landscapes and legends of Dartmoor to the Cathedral and Roman history of Exeter, from famous characters like Dame Agatha Christie and Sir Francis Drake to beautiful beaches and cream teas, from glorious gardens and evocative castles to steam trains and river boats, Devon can truly offer something for anyone, whatever their interests. I am happy to take you and your group on pre-planned tours as listed, or I can arrange tailor made tours according to your preferences. I have built excellent links with many attractions and businesses in the area with whom I can work to provide you with exclusive and fascinating experiences. As well as being your good natured and award winning guide, I will also be your driver, taking you out in my comfortable 7 seater Ford Galaxy. I can pick you up from wherever you wish locally, or arrange transport if you need collecting from further afield. I have spent most of my working life in customer service industries, including the tourism industry, so you can expect me to take great care of you, ensuring that you have the best possible time. I am now very keen to focus more on enjoying the work that I do, and I would like to share this enjoyment with you. Devon has so much to offer, being one of the most sought after holiday destinations in the United Kingdom, and yet it is never difficult to get off the beaten track, especially if you are in my hands - local knowledge counts for a lot if you really want to get to see a place! I have many hobbies and interests which I feel can only enhance your time with me, including photography, nature, walking, history, travel, cooking and genealogy (I have an extensive and prestigious Scottish family history which I am happy to share with you). If you want me to, I will act as your photographer for the day, and produce good quality images to remember your time in Devon by. So, whatever your interests, please come to me to discuss what I can arrange for you. I can also point you in the direction of the very best accommodation that this area has to offer, as well as taking you to the best restaurants and inns for your meals. I hope to meet you soon. Higher National Diploma in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management. I have public liability insurance, and all the other licences and insurances as required of me by my local authority.

Whilst Devon is my home county, and I think the county that offers the most opportunities to the traveller in the whole of the United Kingdom, I can't deny the uniqueness of the counties that surround it. As a result I have visited Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset many times myself for day trips and longer holidays. In Cornwall we have wonderful coastline, enchanting fishing villages and beautiful gardens of Worldwide renown, as well as, of course, the Eden Project. In Dorset we have the Jurassic Coast with its extraordinary geology and wealth of fossils, as well as incredible natural beauty and unspoilt towns. In Somerset we have the ancient Roman spa town of Bath, the magnificent Wells Cathedral, and one of my favourite places, Glastonbury, which has a truly unique feel. So, please feel free to come to me to discuss where you would like to go and what you would like to see, and I will organise a special day, or more if you so wish, to Cornwall, Dorset or Somerset.
9. 00 am - collection from you accommodation In Cornwall we can visit either the North Coast, including places such as Boscastle, Tintagel (King Arthur) and Port Isaac (Doc Martin), or we can head down to the beautiful Penwith Peninsular, to see places such as St. Michael's Mount, Mousehole, the Minack Theatre, Botallack Tin Mine, and St. Ives. In Dorset, we can drive along some of the spectacular Jurassic Coast (including going fossil hunting at Charmouth), or we can visit the Swannary at Abbotsbury, or any number of other wonderful places. In Somerset I love taking my guests to either Glastonbury or Wells. Glastonbury is a unique and colourful town, steeped in history and legend, and the views from the top of Glastonbury Tor are spectacular. Wells is a lovely, small city, with the Cathedral being a real show stopper, and a fabulous place to visit. 5. 30pm - return to your accommodation
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
