Hello there! My name is Callum and my aim is to provide you with a truly memorable time exploring the wonderful Highlands of Scotland. I was born in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, where I have lived and worked all my life. With a Macleod mother who was born on the island of Raasay between Skye and the Scottish mainland, and a Mackintosh father who was also born in Inverness, I have been steeped in the culture and history of the Highlands since birth. Having retired from a 36 year career as a high school teacher, becoming a tour guide in order to share my life-long love of the Highlands with visitors to the area was a very natural step. Specialising in tours of the Isle of Skye, the Isle of Raasay and the Loch Ness, Inverness and Culloden area, I hope to show you the very best of what the Highlands has to offer and provide you with an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. As well as the spectacular sights and breath-taking scenery, during our time together I will share my knowledge of Highland history and the myths and legends which have shaped the people and culture of this wonderful place. Each tour is planned to make the most of your time, with the day’s itinerary designed to your personal wishes and interests - a truly bespoke experience. We will travel in a comfortable and spacious SUV allowing you to sit back, relax and enjoy your day, taking time to savour the unique splendour of the Highlands as well as being able to access some of the less-visited treasures of the area. Whether you wish to see stunning mountains, visit historical castles, walk amongst beautiful landscapes, hear about local history and folklore or sample a ‘wee dram’ of whisky, your tour can be tailored to meet your personal tastes. Tour days can be combined for a longer, more immersive experience of what the region has to offer. With the flexibility of a personal driver, I can collect you from your holiday accommodation, cruise ship port, train station, bus or ferry terminal either returning to your day’s starting point or taking you to your ongoing destination. Get in touch to begin planning your bespoke Highland adventure!

Overview of your Portree tour

The Isle of Raasay offers the perfect get-away for those wishing to experience the natural beauty of The Highlands together with its rich cultural and historical heritage. Let me take you on a very personal tour of one of the lesser-known gems of Scotland’s Western Isles. With its peaceful atmosphere and stunning views across the sea to Skye, Raasay is an island treasure. During your day I will share tales of the island’s fascinating history, its vibrant present and my family’s deep-rooted connection to it. From the Georgian mansion that was once the home of the Chief of Clan Macleod of Raasay we will explore ~ evidence of Pictish settlements and 6th-century Celtic missionaries ~ Raasay’s part in the Jacobite rising of 1745 and connection with Bonnie Prince Charlie ~ the island’s early 20th century iron ore mine and railway ~ the iconic “Calum's Road” and ancient Brochel Castle ~ Raasay’s recent revival including Raasay Distillery, known for its exceptional single malts.
