Hi, my name is Marco and I have made my life where I was born: in Cáceres, World Heritage City in the wild and stirring region of Extremadura. Passionately committed to explaining both city and region to visitors, I was educated at Extremadura University in Cáceres and at St Andrew's University in Scotland. Son of a guide, I expect to be fully qualified as a guide to my own city and to Extremadura at large, also to do a customised tour for you. I am well versed in history, art and architecture and have a keen appreciation of the issues of the present day. My offering hopes to be rich and delivered with intelligence and humour. I have travelled widely in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Oceania. As a linguist, I am able to conduct tours not only in Spanish and English, but also in French, Italian and Portuguese. I try to be sensitive to the differing needs of each language group, to differing levels of appreciation and to each individual. Nobody will feel neglected or 'talked down to'. I can also help you to shop, wine, dine and find the best restaurants in town. With its huge history of Romans, Arabs and Conquistadors, Extremadura is one of the most delightful and impressive parts of the Iberian Peninsula. Rich in magnificent small towns and monuments, it exudes a sense of the remote and different. I will try that time with me will always be time well spent. Official guide of the region of Extremadura. Languages achieved at the local Language School: English, French, Italian & Portuguese. None.

No doubt, the most amazing archaeological roman site in Europe outside Italy. Capital of the province Lusitania, Emerita Augusta was one of the ninth most important colonies in the 2nd. Century AD. Come and discover this hidden treasure with me! We will begin with the Roman theatre, where I will explain you why it is considered the best preserved one in the continent with its superb blue colonnade which had capacity for over 5, 500 spectators. Very close to it, the amphitheater, nearly 100 years older than the Colosseum in Rome! What a surprise right? Walking along the streets we will come across with the forum that housed the outstanding temple of Diana. A few minutes away there is a bridge that is proud to be the longest one still existing from Roman times all over the world. And right beside, the Arabic alcazaba, the oldest one all in the Iberian peninsula. Imagine visiting all these places in just one tour!

Marco was an exceptional tour guide .. he knows so much about the history and is eager to share it. Merida is an amazing place. The sites are amazing - the longest Roman bridge, the theater, and the amphitheater are top of the list ... Marco also taught me so much about the culture in the area. Highly recommend this tour and Marco ... When we go to Caceres, i'll be looking up Marco for a tour. Also - marco graciously follow up with books to get additional insight on the Spanish history.
Marco came out of his way to pick us up at our hotel to take us to Merida. Being a local, he was very knowledgeable about customs, food, archeology and history. He is funny and can carry a conversation really well with anyone. He treated my disabled daughter with love and kindness. I highly recommend Marco and his tours if you want to enrich your life in a meaningful manner!
Very knowledgeable guide and flexible to our needs. We enjoyed our time with Marco very much, thanks!
Marco is an amazing tour guide. If you need a tour guide to Guadalupe or elsewhere in the Extremadura region, you should reach out to him. He arranged a Guadalupe tour for us that was amazing. We are English speaking and the tour is only in Spanish. We would have only got a small fraction of what we got if we only had the Spanish tour. He was terrific at Merida and Caceres as well. Marco is extremely knowledgeable and interesting. Highly, highly recommended.
Marco is an OUTSTANDING tour guide. He really brings the history to life. He is very personable and enjoyable. We learned so much about history, culture, and life in Spain. I highly highly recommend Marco for any tour needs in the Extremadura region.
