Hello and welcome to South Korea! I joined ToursByLocals in 2024 and was honored with a 2026 Golden Guide Award for my DMZ tours delivering the most well-structured and immersive experiences during a single day. This is a highly selective distinction, as only about 25 winners are chosen from a global network of over 5,000 guides across 170 countries. Before becoming a tour guide, I traveled extensively around the world and within Korea. Prior to this, I spent 15 years working for multinational corporations. I also received my MS degree from a renowned university in the United States. I love not only traveling, but hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, and photography. If you are looking for a friendly guide with fluent English and also with internationally accepted manners, you have found the right person. If you are also looking for someone who can cover a wide range of topics such as Korean history & culture, North Korean relations, military issues, the economy, and education, Bingo! My mission is to make the tours fun and memorable. That is why I always study different places, Korean history, and culture. It is fun for me to do so. I will prepare every tour schedule carefully by considering different variables and I will discuss it with the clients. Also, for your convenience, my tours can be done with a brand-new 11-seater Van with 4WD and dual sunroofs. You can choose among DMZ and Seoul City, or other places of your interests. Seoul is a unique modern city where the new and the old exist in harmony. You can choose among famous spots such as Kyungbokgung palace (to watch Guard Changing Ceremony), Bukchon Hanok village, Insadong, a local market and Seoul N tower. DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) is the most unique border in the world and it is the number one choice by the visitors. You will visit Dorasan observatory, the 3rd infiltration tunnel, and the unification village. (closes on Mondays). When the circumstances and your schedule does not allow visiting those places, other popular DMZ spots will be selected. Incheon is the city where the international airport is. You can enjoy the sea, various cuisine, the BMW driving center, the 140-year-old downtown, ancient dolmens (UNESCO heritage), and a DMZ observatory by the sea. This tour can be customized to fit your needs.

We had a fantastic time exploring Seoul with Oliver as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s must-see sights and local culinary gems, and he shared thoughtful historical insights that deepened our appreciation for Korea’s rich cultural heritage. Beyond that, Oliver even had excellent recommendations for skincare shopping, which was a big plus! He was flexible and accommodating with our pick-up and drop-off locations and timing, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. Oliver was a true pleasure to work with, and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone visiting Seoul.
We took the DMZ tour with Oliver and had a truly memorable experience. Oliver’s deep knowledge of Korea’s rich and complex history brought incredible context and meaning to everything we saw. He was enthusiastic about sharing his insights, which made the tour both educational and engaging. Despite our large group, Oliver was extremely patient, organized, and accommodating, ensuring that everyone felt included and well-informed. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour—and especially Oliver—to anyone visiting South Korea.
