Welcome to Sint Maarten / Saint Martin! I love sharing the beauty, diversity, history, and unique charm of our two-nation island, Sint Maarten / Saint Martin. Born in the Netherlands many years ago, I met my partner there in 1997. As my partner spent part of her childhood in Sint Maarten, the Caribbean in general pulled us into the adventure we started in 2003. After exploring several islands, we spent eight wonderful years in Aruba, where I managed an emergency power company. In 2011, an opportunity brought us to Sint Maarten with the same company, and we instantly knew we had found our true home. Guiding guests to see the beauty of our island quickly turned into a true passion. Today, I am proud to personally guide guests in my private, comfortable van, showcasing the very best of our history, culture, delicious local food, and breathtaking nature. My tours go deeper: by sharing the unique, fragile balance of our island's ecosystem and local culture, I aim to inspire sustainable tourism and conservation. Thinking outside the box is my strength, and tailoring experiences to your specific wishes is what I love to do. That is why I have designed a variety of unique tours to show you Saint Martin from completely different perspectives. Accessibility and comfort for my guests are important. I am able to host guests of all ages, as well as those with mobility challenges, visual or hearing impairments, developmental disabilities, or mental health conditions. Collapsible wheelchairs and walkers are always welcome. Just let me know your specific needs when booking, and we will coordinate everything to ensure a seamless, unforgettable experience. Beyond the tours offered, every single tour can be fully customized to your wishes. For your convenience, the standard meeting point is the secure parking lot at Dock Maarten / Chesterfield's Restaurant in Philipsburg—a safe place for your rental car and just a short, 10-minute walk from the cruise ship harbor exit. Hotel pick-up is, of course, also happily arranged. I cannot wait to meet you, show you our beautiful island, and share the passion I have for my home!

Overview of your Philipsburg tour

Together, we will unpack the secrets of a single island shared by two nations. Our journey spans 32 million years of history, resilience, and untamed beauty. Millions of years ago, powerful tectonic forces thrust this paradise out of the deep blue ocean, sculpting these rolling hills, pristine bays, and dramatic coastlines. On this tour, you will walk in the ancient footsteps of the Arawaks and Caribs. We will plunge into the age of discovery, where the paths of Christopher Columbus, Spanish galleons, French colonists, and Dutch merchants collided. You will hear gripping tales of the salt industry, explore historic fort ruins where cannons once roared, and uncover the powerful stories of the people who shaped our vibrant culture. It is a beautiful story of harmony and unity that still thrives today in our modern paradise of over 100 nationalities. Put on your walking shoes, grab your camera, and fuel your curiosity. Your historic journey starts right now!
