I've been working as a guide in Douro since 2018 and this activity allows me to do something very dear to me: to share Douro valley and its flavours, its specialities, such as its wines, among the best ones in the world.

The Douro Call is a full immersion on what the Douro Valley and the North have the best - amazing landscapes, great wines and delicious food.

I'm passionate about this region and for me the Douro Valley is the best place to welcome guests and it's where I'm able to share my wine knowledge and experiences while you share yours.

Our day will start at a hidden family-run winery, where we will learn more about the wine production, visit the warehouse and end with an amazing and private tasting.

After lunch we will explore the other side of the valley - Pinhão. At a smaller family-run winery we will do a second wine tasting while enjoying my favorite viewpoint which is considered one of the best 6 views in the world by BBC Travel.

On our way to Porto we will stop at Amarante and visit a typical "tasca" owned by António. This tasca is one of my favorite places to taste some of the best Portuguese products while appreciating some "vinho verde", produced locally by the owner.

Lamego and São João de Tarouca are two small towns that are a piece of Portugal History and the foundation of our country.

Lamego is my hometown and is one of the most lovely small towns in Portugal
With many historical monuments and also a wonderful part of history, being one of the most important cities during the foundation of our country, this city was an important city even when the Moors were the main population in the Iberian Peninsula

São João de Tarouca is the birthplace of the Cistercian Order when they came to Portugal, and also, according to many historians, the first creators of what we now call Port Wine
What amazes me also the most is the history behind this Religious Order, our first King of Portugal and the Knights Templar

On this tour we are going to investigate more of what happened when Portugal was starting its foundation.

The first winery to visit will offer you very good table wines but will be also an authentic gastronomic experience with amazing food products all local from the Douro Valley Region like olives, olive pastes, olive oil, fruits jam, traditional home made bread, almonds, etc.
After this visit we will go to the village of Provesende and make a small walk around this historical place in Douro Valley to see the monuments, the architecture Heritage from Douro has in Provesende the best representation. We will stop in breathtaking viewpoints and have a delicious gastronomic experience - lunch in a typical Portuguese restaurant!

Lamego is a small city in the center of Portugal, still located on the Douro Valley Region, the oldest demarcarted region in the world

Along with a lot of Manor Houses that belonged to big wine producers, this small town was the location where supposedly the Cortes of Lamego happened, a meeting between lords in the XII century that decided that Afonso Henriques would be our first King of Portugal

Along with that, Lamego also has an amazing Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remédios with its amazing staircase and also an amazing city center filled with life

Because I was born in this small town I know all the small streets and locations so that we can enjoy this amazing city

Since this is a walking tour, the price includes my fee as a tour guide for the 4 hours. Also includes a drive up to the Sanctuary

It is a very relaxing walking tour and the best way to get to know Douro. During my teenager time, these places were my favorite - they gave me a sense of freedom. After the walk it's time to get some energy with a Picnic with regional Portuguese food products.
