NOTE : A CERTIFICATE TOURIST GUIDE has been educated in a higher education level for at least 3 years in order to be able to present in an accurate way all the historical facts and bring to life the history of each place, connecting it with life in modern Portugal , when offer his/her services to the visitors. Choosing to have a guided tour with an officially licensed tourist guide will enhance your experience and provide an in depth presentation. Also the history of each place will be connected that way with the other sites you may visit, so you will have at the end a complete experience while touring around Portugal. No restrictions. As a Certified Guide I can tour anywhere in Portugal including driving and touring at the same time.

Founded during the Christian "reconquista" Portugal is a Catholic country since the 12th century and so the perfect place for monks to settle and enlarge the local faith. A key factor for development and defence for any territory, monks and their life style are still considered to be the poles of western civilization! Covering what is considered as one the best example of Templar's architecture, we'll be astonished with this magnificent cluster of art and history! In Óbidos we'll walk the medieval town together recalling traditions, arts, crafts, monuments and local delicacies such as the famous cherry liquor. This day trip is one of a kind! We'll find time to taste traditional food and drinks , enjoy a countryside ride, understand the history of Portugal but above all, have a great time together!
Matilde is a wonderful tour guide and she was very accommodating to work with us on seeing the places that were of most interest to us. She is very experienced and great to spend time with - she gave us many insights and lots of great information about Coimbra and Óbidos - they are beautiful, amazing places! Our tour with Matilde was OUTSTANDING!! She had a perfect plan, and prepared , as a little rain ☔️ was falling. Our tour at TOMAR , was incredible! Matilde’s knowledge, historical details , and explanation of events was AMAZING! She explained the various periods of architecture throughout our tours. We loved our day with Mathilde. She has great energy and is super knowledgeable and fun and easy to be with. She quickly got to know what we were especially interested in and organized the day so that we got the maximum benefit. She shared the history and mystique of Tomar in a way that made it come alive for us - and that will live as as part of us forever. She also generously shared tips for our stay in Lisbon. We would have happily done more tours with her but she was already booked!

Matilde created a day trip around Lisbon for my wife and I. It included the towns of Obidos, Alcobaca, and Tomar. The trip was a perfect blend of architecture, history, and food. Matilde was able to guide us through the sights while avoiding the large tour groups that can overwhelm the experience. Her knowledge of world history, religion, and food was impressive. We would definitely recommend Matilde.
Leaving Lisbon we'll drive for about one hour and a half towards Óbidos where we'll spend about one hour to one hour and a half. It's a medieval village so car access is forbidden. All tour is done by foot visiting local shops, churches and view points. Lunch break on route After lunch we'll drive to Tomar (1. 30 minutes) to reach the Templar city and visit the Convent of Christ , one of the best preserved buildings originally built by the knights of the Temple and the following Order of Christ.
