Hello, I'm Paula! Having a Portuguese father, a French mother, a 5 years experience living in Italy, 2 full immersions courses in England, my environment is international. I speak foreign languages and I'm in touch with foreign people since my childhood. Consequently I took a first degree in International Relations and then a degree in Tourism Information specializing in Tour Guiding in 2003. Since then I've been working as a professional tourist guide always willing to learn more and to meet new people. My purpose has always been to be an ambassador of the Portuguese built, cultural and natural heritage I'm so fond of. To that I add my passion for wine, specially the Portuguese ones! I'm a certified sommelier and I'm postgraduated in Wine Tourism. I love to organize wine & food tastings and sensory experiences. On each bottle there is a storytelling that I'm proud to share with guests. Drinking is quenching thirst, tasting wine is culture! You don't drink alcohol? Not a problem, there are plenty of delicacies to be tasted :-) I'm also a trainer. I teach Winemaking, Food and Wine Pairing, Tourist Products and Services, etc. Yes I love to share my knowledge. I believe that alone we go faster but together we go further. My tours are designed to be professional, customized, safe, easy, simple, fun. At the end guests feel happy, satisfied, enriched, taken care. I prefer quality tours over quantity. Therefore few reviews but glowing. Less is more :-) I pay special attention to the personal relationship. All my tours are customized and adaptable anytime with a special touch of mine. Ready? Here we go! - Master in Winetourism by Lusofona University, Lisbon. - Degree in Tourism Information, Specialization in Tour Guiding, at ISLA University, Lisbon. - Certified tour guide by AGIC (Portuguese Association of Tour Guides), member of the board for 3 years. - Certified sommelier by AEP (Portuguese Association of Sommeliers). - Degree in International Relations, at ISCSP University, Lisbon. - Certified translator by APT (Portuguese Association of Translators). - Several workshops and courses along the years to be more knowledgeable such as Lisbon's architects in the 19 and 20 centuries, traditional crafts, coaching, digital marketing... If the specific day/time you want is unavailable send me a message! I'll try to move my schedule.

Overview of your Lisbon tour

Welcome to Belem, the district of Lisbon that is all about navigation. This is a 3-hour walking tour during which we'll explore the golden age of the Portuguese history. During the 15th and 16th centuries Portugal was a pioneer in the discovery of new routes towards all known and unknown continents! Did you know Brazil was one of the richest Portuguese colonies? Have you heard about Vasco da Gama? Are you familiar with the caravel, a kind of boat? Is there something in common between Hong Kong and Macau? How come a so small country as Portugal was able to populate so many places it was present in? Why were spices so important? Let's discover together in 3 hours the district of the Discoveries!

Your Lisbon tour itinerary

We'll meet at the statue of Afonso de Albuquerque, governor of India. This is the ideal spot to understand the history of the maritime expansion of Portugal overseas. The river is right there reminding us its important role of transportation and communication. Turning to the other side, we'll face the official residence of the Portuguese President of the Republic. We'll head to the Monastery of Saint Jerome, a UNESCO's world heritage site that you cannot miss. It's known for the beauty of its unique decoration. We'll visit the church with its surprising vault: a master piece of architecture! In front, the Monument of Discoveries that looks like a boat. It's a homage to navigation. On the floor, we'll follow in a world map the maritime routes the Portuguese took to get to Africa, Asia, America and even Oceania. Then the Tower of Belem is a must. Surrounded by water, it used to be a powerful fortress protecting Lisbon against pirates, enemies, invaders. Time to say goodbye with a awesome view.
