Overview of your Evora tour
Évora got its first outlines in the Roman period, in the 1st century, but the first vestiges of human presence in its territory go back to the prehistoric era, between the 6th and the 7th centuries B.C. Let's visit and learn all about its most outstanding megaliths in the middle of nature, such as the "Escoural Cave" ((25,000 - 15,000 BC), the "Almendres" cromlech, the biggest in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the oldest in the world (2000 years older than the Britain Stonehenge), the "Almendres Menhir" and the "Zambujeiro" big tapir/dolmen (beginning of 4th and middle of 3rd millennium BC), probably the world's tallest dolmen!
