Hello traveller, It's great that you're coming to Poznan. It may surprise you, but our city is a cradle of Poland. I'm Tomasz Laskowski, your personal guide to the historic city of Poznan. With 14 years of experience and good storytelling skills, I interweave the city's rich history with contemporary events, peppered with fascinating fun facts. As a passionate history buff, I love bringing the past to life in a way that's both engaging and enlightening. Beyond history, I know the best places for a perfect cup of coffee, a delicious meal and all the hidden gems that make Poznań so special. As an entrepreneur, through PoznanTours I also offer extended, private, tailor-made tours of Poland and can even help you trace your family's Polish roots through bespoke genealogy research. Get to know Poland a little better: Polish culture, history and us, the real people who live here. Let's explore Poznan - and beyond - together, uncovering the stories that make this place so special. It would be great to welcome you in Poznan! Best, Tomasz Laskowski My references include the following: - Guiding Licence in Poznan & Poland - issued by Polish State in 2009 after an exam; - Proficient English skills - daily work with many foreigners + Certificate in Advanced English; - Master Degree in Philosophy + Political Science; - Good knowledge about Poland, Central Europe & life behind the Iron Curtain; - guide with a car. Suitable for longer tours outside the city. VW Touran - great for groups up from 1 to 3 people. For bigger groups - we will get a bigger car. Simply contact me in advance.

Overview of your Poznan tour

Discover the lesser-known Jewish heritage in Poznań on this engaging walking tour. While the city never had a very large Jewish population, the Jewish history of Poznań is full of powerful stories worth remembering. We’ll explore the Old Market Square and nearby streets, following in the footsteps of Jewish residents who lived, worked, and shaped the city’s culture. A highlight of the tour is a visit to the site of the former Jewish cemetery in Poznań, where we pay homage at the symbolic grave of Rabbi Akiva Eiger, one of Europe’s greatest Talmudic scholars. If booked in advance, I will try to arrange a visit to the present-day Jewish Center, home to a small synagogue. Along the way, you will hear about the influence of Jewish traditions on daily life, the origins of well-known Polish symbols, and Poznań’s surprising links to the Maharal of Prague. This Poznań walking tour blends history, memory, and culture into a moving experience.

If requested in advance, I will try to arrange a visit inside the current Jewish Center, which hosts our Synagogue.
