Welcome to Stavanger, a viking city founded almost 900 years ago in 1125. The private city walk will take you through the cobblestone streets s of "Gamle Stavanger", the old city. The small wooden houses represent the 19th century Scandinavian architecture. The gardens and coloured flowers at our northern latitude will surprise you. A stroll along Vågen, the city harbour with the fish market, restaurants and pubs takes you back to the present and you can meet the citizens of Stavanger. I will share some local stories and local gossip you can only get from a local. The walk continues via Fargegaten, literally the coloured street that ends up in the Petroleum Museum (1999) which explains the importance of the Oil industry and how Norway became a wealthy nation. Stavanger has seen a huge immigration after oil was found in 1969. Work force was needed. I was one of them. I will share some inside stories from my career in the petroleum companies.
