I am borne and bread, 3 generations in the oil capital of Norway, Stavanger, located in South West Norway. . . where the beautiful fjords are. I have been an athlete for over 25 years, running marathons and wannabe triathlete, now I am more into more fitness and hiking and biking. I love the the mountains in the summer for hiking and biking, and ski in all ways during the winter, cross country, down hill and randonne. I have been working as a licensed tour guide in Norway since May 1984, when I got my license as the youngest ever 16 years old. I am way past my 30th'ies. . . that was a long time ago. . . . In between I took a University degree in Business and worked in the Oil industry in Stavanger for more than 20 years. My husband is French, and we travel often to the South of France where I also am at home now. We have two grown sons, and a Norwegian Forrest Cat who is International Champion in his class. I love working with tourists, and always give my 100%++. I would love to welcome you to my beautiful town and surroundings, and can custom make your tour on demand if my standard tours is not what you look for. * licensed tour guide in Norway since 1984. * I have a driver's license and a comfortable electical car, BMWi3, or BMW x 5. Welcome to Stavanger, a viking city founded almost 900 years ago in 1125. The private city walk will take you through the cobblestone streets s of "Gamle Stavanger", the old city. The small wooden houses represent the 19th century Scandinavian architecture. The gardens and coloured flowers at our northern latitude will surprise you. A stroll along Vågen, the city harbour with the fish market, restaurants and pubs takes you back to the present and you can meet the citizens of Stavanger. I will share some local stories and local gossip you can only get from a local. The walk continues via Fargegaten, literally the coloured street that ends up in the Petroleum Museum (1999) where I will explain the history and impact it has had on our city. Stavanger has seen a huge immigration after oil was found in 1969. I will share some inside stories from my career in the petroleum companies. I can accommodate larger grops above 6 persons, but tickets to the Petroleum Museum must then be payed separately.
Tour start from Stavanger City Walking Tour in the old City - Photostop Vågen Harbour, Fish Market.
