I am borne and bread, 3 generations in the oil capital of Norway, Stavanger, located in South West Norway. . . where the beautiful fjords are. I have been an athlete for over 25 years, running marathons and wannabe triathlete, now I am more into more fitness and hiking and biking. I love the the mountains in the summer for hiking and biking, and ski in all ways during the winter, cross country, down hill and randonne. I have been working as a licensed tour guide in Norway since May 1984, when I got my license as the youngest ever 16 years old. I am way past my 30th'ies. . . that was a long time ago. . . . In between I took a University degree in Business and worked in the Oil industry in Stavanger for more than 20 years. My husband is French, and we travel often to the South of France where I also am at home now. We have two grown sons, and a Norwegian Forrest Cat who is International Champion in his class. I love working with tourists, and always give my 100%++. Overview of your Stavanger tour
Welcome to Stavanger, a Viking city founded almost 900 years ago. The giant monument of the 3 Swords on the Rock, 5 km outside the city center, is a testimony of the Battle of Hafrsfjord in 875 AD. We will drive out to beaches, past Sola ruin church, in an area where the Viking chief Erling Skjalgson ruled. From Ullandhaug Tower, you will get a bird's eye view over the city and Ryfylke Fjords. I like to talk about what is special about living in Stavanger and Norway and what has formed us to be as we are. We will walk the cobblestone alleyways of "Gamle Stavanger", the old city, and admire the small wooden houses of this historical neighborhood. The gardens and colored flowers at this northern latitude will surprise you. We will also visit the harbour, where you can see the cathedral (under renovation). We will end the tour with a visit at the Oil Museum and 6ou will learn how Norway became an oil nation, and Stavanger its Oil Capital. This tour can be customized to meet your whishes.
