The city became the capital under the rule of Sultan Moulay Ismail (1672-1727), who was the founder of the Alawite Empire. The city has an unforgettable and easy-going medieval ambience. In addition, Meknes has several palaces, spectacular Mosques and Madrassas behind the fortified walls that feature many giant entrances, and the world-famous Bab Mansour. My tours focus mainly on the cultural, historical, and social component relevant not only to the city of Meknes but to Morocco as well. I set my tours to be way informative, interactive and spontaneous rather than scripted.
