Malta and Gozo - both islands that have offered me a variety of wonderful experiences and magical moments that will remain forever embedded in my memory. You can all read about History but it takes a passionate local to make you 'feel' the place you are visiting. This is what I would like to convey to you as your private guide and, at the same time, impress you with the thousands of years of history on our 'rocks' (as we fondly refer to them) on your private tour. I was also President of the Malta Union of Tourist Guides while also serving on the Council for many years. I have travelled the world through out my life ( in part thanks to my Dad being a Diplomat) and still travel as its also my passion. I like to think that I will highly contribute to your visit on our islands enjoyable by making it a truly enjoyable Ex experience! Guiding gives me the opportunity to 'show off' our beautiful historical and artistic treasures which vie with some of the beautiful European Cities. I studied languages, history, art and History of Architecture . I am currently finishing off my thesis for a Master in Tourism and Culture. I like to take people off the beaten track and show them places to take wonderful pictures, show them that hidden vista. Let me make your Maltese experience a truly memorable one! I guide on both Malta and Gozo and I look forward to meeting you! I have been a fully licensed guide by the Malta Tourism Authority since 1995 and involved in Tourism for over 30 years. I have attended British and American International schools which has given me a vast educational perspective. I also attended University in the United States, was President of the Malta Union of Tourist Guides and Council member for several years. This is a half day tour covering the area of the ancient capital of Mdina and its surrounding area of Rabat. . It will give you a true feeling of importance of this area, it's ancient traditions and a feel for Malta's traditions. We will walk by centuries old palaces, see places used as film sets , Games of Thrones, Count of Monte Cristo, Napoleon. You also have the option to get a ticket to see the Cathedral Museum and Malta's main Cathedral if you wish to purchase the ticket. Try a little typical Maltese snack and local soft drink. . .
Highly recommend Anne Marie for the 3 hour tour of Mdina. She was easy to communicate with. We met at Mdina gate and instantly started learning about Mdina - history, architecture, personal stories and more. Had a lovely coffee stop and continued on. One of the highlights was a visit to Palazzo Falson. Anne knew about the artifacts and art so thoroughly. She also recommended several restaurants in Rabat, walking us there.
We had an awesome time learning about the history of Mdina on our private walking tour. She was so knowledgeable and great at explaining the complicated history of the place. We particularly enjoyed the tour in the museum given her extensive knowledge of so many of the artifacts.
Anne is a wonderful experienced Tourguide and such a lovely person. She knows everything about Malta, we had an exciting tour through Mdina and Rabat, she showed us wonderful parts of the two cities and we learned a lot about Maltese history. The tour was very interesting and funny, we could ask any question and she sent us even afterward loads of information for our upcoming days in Malta. When we return we definitely will book another tour with this lovely lady.

My partner and I had an afternoon tour of Mdina and Rabat with Anne Marie de Barros. The communication beforehand was excellent and Anne Marie was waiting for us at Mdina Gate when we arrived. The tour was full of interesting history and stories and Anne Marie was very knowledgeable about the art and objects we encountered. Most importantly though Anne Marie is a relaxed and fun person to spend time with and very hospitable. I couldn't recommend her more highly.
This tour starts at the main door of Mdina but should you require transport from your hotel/cruise ship, this can be arranged separately for a small charge. We will explore the wonderful fortified city of Mdina and admire its wonderful palazzos belonging to the Maltese Nobility. There is the option of a visit to the Mdina Cathedral and Museum, or Palazzo Falson with its wonderful collection of art and silver and others items. Then we head to Rabat and we will see Wignacourt Museum with the Grotto of St Paul and the Catacombs and wartime shelters. Its a lovely area to also get some great photographs! Note: This tour can be done also in the afternoon or early evening with no entrances. A local drink and local snack will be offered at no extra cost instead.
