I am a Bedouin from Petra. I was born in a Bedouin tent on the mountain heights above Petra. When I was a child my family and I would often take our rest and relaxation in the caves of the ancient city of Petra. Petra was my playground as a child and my place of inspiration. I used to walk almost five miles to school, and living in this openness made my mind open and my dreams infinite. When I finished my higher education I got specialized in Radiological Technology and worked at a hospital as the head of x-ray department for four successive years but my passion to the rocks of Petra kept me guiding guests from time to another before I quited to become a full time freelance licensed tour guide. I'm totally passionate about history and ancient cultures. One of the things I love the most is to see people's smile and hear the "wow" they say when see or understand something new. Private tours really help on this as everything becomes much more personal and intense and the simple fact that you arrange everything with your guide, this helps to create a relationship even before you get here. I'm also a relaxed and laid back person, I always prefer to turn these tours into an informal walk and conversation, allowing you to feel and understand the places. Though tours are planned to be informal, they are also planned to be very informative and 100% customizable. The Siq (main entrance of Petra) is a hugely impressive and dramatic way into the city, but there is a path less crowded which is just as impressive and is worth considering on your second visit to the site. It begins near Little Petra and involves a climb up the mountains that shield the city. You will need to be reasonably fit and have a head for heights! As well as the spectacular views of the ever-expanding horizon as you climb, your real reward comes as you approach the top, when you start to see the man-made huge carving above the skyline; as you walk further it slowly reveals itself to be The Monastery, towering above you. If you start early in the morning, you will reach The Monastery before any of the crowds who have used the main entrance, giving you plenty of time to absorb the view with the least possible people around. The tour involves a lot of hiking, as it starts from little Petra area and takes the site of Petra backwards. the distance is around 10 kms and takes around 7 hours.
We meet in the lobby of your hotel in Petra or in the visitor center. after getting the tickets, we need to take a drive from Petra town to Little Petra area where the hike starts through the mountains of Petra. The first monument to see is the Monastery which is one of the biggest carved monuments in Petra. then we explore the site of Petra backwards passing by Qasr El Bint, the Colonnaded Street, the Royal Tombs, the Nabatean Theater, the Street of Facades, Treasury (Al Khazna), The Siq (the main entrance), the obelisk tomb, and the Djinn blocks. Evantually, ending by the visitor center. The distance is around 10 kms and expected to take around 7 hours.
