HI! My name is Manuela and I am a qualified licensed Tour Guide in Rome and Vatican City since 2000. Born and raised in Rome, I am proud and in love with my City and I would love to share my passion with visitors eager to explore the eternal city. So, just like me, you will appreciate Rome as an open-air museum, for its historical heritage, but also for its really stimulating atmosphere. It's a job title I am very proud to have achieved, after extensive studies on archaeology, history of art, Roman History and tourism legislation and a severe exam by local authorities: Provincia di Roma. My one above all artist is the amazing Michelangelo and I consider myself lucky to live in the city where his main work of art the Sistine Chapel is located. The first time I saw it I was 14 and still I find something new to discover every time. I am fluent in English having lived in Australia for three years. That gave me the opportunity to pick up a good accent that makes touring with me very comfortable to follow. I am also fluent in Italian. Mother of two girls, a 25-year-old and a 14-year-old, I can say I have a certain experience with children and to enable them to feel involved and curious. On my tours, I use visual aids such as iPad, overlay books and have taken storytelling workshops. It is my unique way to deliver history in a fun and friendly way that keeps everyone engaged: you will be taken back in time to relive the Ancient Roman Emperors and Gladiators or the exciting life of Renaissance painters and Popes. I love my work and I do it with passion, it enables me to be with people from all over the world when they are at their best moment…. . on vacation. We were delighted with the Manuela's early morning introduction to the highlights of Rome that Manuela gave us and the 8 am start added greatly to the experience. We had the Trevi Fountain virtually to ourselves. Manuela skilfully blended detail with context based on her extensive experience and knowledge but in an articulate and personable way which brought the history of Rome alive for us. . Her story telling with use of the present tense when describing history was consummate. Strongly recommended!

Manuela is a wonderful guide! Her morning tour was the absolute best way to see the heart of Rome before everyone else woke up and crowded the streets. Her in-depth knowledge of history, art and architecture was impressive. Manuela's way of making us feel like old friends added an extra amount of enjoyment to the tour. She even treated us to a wonderful coffee stop and an extensive visit to the Pantheon (my husband's fav). When in Rome, start your trip with Manuela - FANTASTIC!
To optimize time on the tour: Starting from the meeting point Babington Tea Room Piazza di Spagna - Spanish Steps -Trevi Fountain - Column of Marcus Aurelius -Temple of Hadrian -Pantheon - Navona Square. Remember, to enter churches, you must have covered shoulders and knees or bring a shawl for this purpose. Security checks might be required entering churches, so no utensils in bags, please.
