Overview of your Cefalu tour
Collesano is a little towns nestled in a valley surrounded by the mountains but still close to the Mediterranean Sea. The long history of Collesano possibly relates to the history of original inhabitants of Sicily, the Sicani, dating back before the foundation of Rome! Because of its strategic position, it became an important town for the Arab-Muslims who ruled over Sicily and, eventually, for the Normans who built a castle in the early 1100s. Though in ruins it witnesses the importance of Collesano. After a walking tour we will have lunch at a local restaurant which serves mainly food from the surrounding area. Our next stop is Castelbuono, famous for its almost pristine Medieval castle that we will visit. After a walk in the old town we will have a panettone tasting, as panettone is made by a local business known worldwide, Fiasconaro.
