Hallo! I'm an official local guide in Agrigento since 1998. I really encourage you to take a tour in my city. The Valley of Temples is a World Heritage Site and so a place with a very rich historical background. Don't waste your occasional presence in Sicily with only a superficial look at the Temples. Take the chance to get a real insight of the site. You will discover, at the end of the tour, that, no matter from what side of the globe you come from: this site is part of your history. It belongs to you. Obviously the Greek temples and the Sicilian landscape will appeal directly to your spirit and senses. They will fascinate you with their magic. But with the guided tour you will learn more about their history. The guide will disclose the secrets of their perfect architecture, the reasons why they still fascinate us. At the end of the tour you will look at them as an essential part of mankind's history. I'm looking forward to welcoming you! I am a local guide in Agrigento since 1998. I have a regular official license (SE084//44) . I am fully vaccinated against Covid 19. I have always worked in the tourism since I left University in Palermo where I integrated literary studies with exams in Art History and History of Sicily. After I took the degree in English and German Litteratures, I spent one year abroad in UK and Ireland to get The Proficiency Certificate in English Studies released by the University of Cambridge. In Germany I worked for an year as an assistant of italian courses in a high school for classic studies, the Goethe Schule in Bochum. As I started the activity of tour guide I realized it really suits me because conjugate the passion I have for history and arts with the pleasure to meet people from around the world. I am not a driver-guide. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver. Please mind that I am not a native English speaker. My accent could probably require sometimes you to ask me to repeat some commentary again.

The Middle Age area of Agrigento occupies the top of the Girgenti Hill. The urban plan there is still the one layered in Arab and Norman age. The most remarkable monuments are represented by the medieval church and monastery of Santo Spirito ( XIII ), San Gerlando Cathedral (XII) and Santa Maria dei Greci (XIII) a church that incorporates remains of a greek temple. Some attractions are to be found along via Atenea, heart and meeting point of the city. The visit but of the Cathedral, Santa Maria dei Greci or Santo Spirito Monastery will request a 2 km uphill walk including steps. The walking tour will let you know about sicilian life and traditions. Lights and shades of a unique country.
This tour is meant to discover what most tourists ignore: the treasures of Agrigento's medieval city. The town occupies today the site of the ancient greeek akropolis. Its plan and architectures sum up 25 centuries of historical events and architectonical styles. The most remarkable monuments are represented by the medieval complex of Santo Spirito ( XIII )and San Lorenzo church (XVIII). Both churches contain rare treasures: the stuccos of Giacomo Serpotta (XVIII), a major artist of Sicily. Highly worthwhile is the visit, on the top of the hill, of the imposing norman Cathedral (XI) and that of Santa Maria dei Greci (XIII), built on a doric greek temple. The visit of its foundations beneath is possible. The tour will start and end near via Atenea. This is the heart and meeting point of the city. The best place for shopping or eating traditional food.
