Of course the most magical thing about Ireland is the magnificent scenery. The landscapes and seascapes are constantly changing on tour and there will be lots of photo-stops along the way. If you want great photos, I will show you where the best shots can be taken. While I have a number of tour options listed, they are not 'set in stone' If you have an item or area of special interest I can plan that for you to ensure that the tour SUITS YOUR NEEDS. Our national poet W. B. Yeats once said, 'Education is not the filling of a bucket, it's the lighting of a fire'. A Full Day's Touring With Amazing Activities
Overview of your Westport tour
Are you coming to County Mayo in the west of Ireland? If you fancy a delightful day out with spectacular scenery and an abundance of activities, this is the tour for you. Along with spectacular scenery we will visit a Sheepdog Farm, a Distillery and take a Cruise on Ireland's only Fjord. Along the way I will entertain you with stunning stories and awesome anecdotes that you will recall and recount to the folks back home. You will hear about Irish history, language, writers, music, films and lots more besides. If you have any area of particular interest I can cover that too. All in all, I promise you a exceptional day out.
Your Westport tour itinerary
On departure we will encounter Croagh Patrick and drive through the charming village of Louisburgh. Our first stop will be at Shrawee Megalithic Wedge Tomb dating back 4,000 years. The Doolough Valley will bring a sense of calm and serenity as we reflect on the majesty of the mountains and remember the frightful Irish Famine. A photo stop at Ashleagh Falls is a must before we head to Killary for a cruise on Ireland's only Fjord. After lunch we will head inland to marvel at the skills of border collies and their master at Joyce Country Sheepdogs. Joe Joyce will entertain you with a demonstration of the skills and give lots of information on the life of an Irish sheep farmer. We will continue with a visit to Lough Mask Distillery where you will learn about the process and sample the product (not for me I'm driving). On return we will visit the village of Toormakeady where Gaelic is the spoken language locally. Returning back to your accommodation you will have lots of amazing memories of a great day.
