Let me look after you. I promise you a MEMORABLE TOUR from Galway, Mayo and Sigo. First of all thank you for checking my profile! I would love to share my passion for Ireland with you if you decide to take one of my tours. I have been guiding for more than ten years and due to my curiosity, I have an extensive, intense, and profound knowledge of Ireland. Of course the most magical thing about Ireland is the magnificent scenery. The landscapes and seascapes are constantly changing on tour and there will be lots of photo-stops along the way. If you want great photos, I will show you where the best shots can be taken. While I have a number of tour options listed, they are not 'set in stone' If you have an item or area of special interest I can plan that for you to ensure that the tour SUITS YOUR NEEDS. Our national poet W. B. Yeats once said, 'Education is not the filling of a bucket, it's the lighting of a fire'. Overview of your Westport tour

I have published THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO ACHILL ISLAND so you can book me with confidence. The Island was one of the main locations for the filming of The Banshees of Inisherin! Let me show you some of the sites. It is connected to the mainland by a bridge. However, you will encounter spectacular sea cliffs, beautiful beaches and vacant villages with their ruined houses. You will experience the mystery and majesty of nature. The scenery is superb and you will be amazed at how the locals survived on an island on the edge of Europe. Stories of rebellion, tragedy and sorrow will help you to understand the Island. Mountains, valleys and bogs will impress you with their rich colours, ever-changing, as sunshine and cloud create the picturesque landscapes that has drawn famous artists to the island for many years. Irish painter Paul Henry, came in 1910, was so impressed that he tore up his return ticket and stayed for 10 years! If you have a specific itinerary in mind I can customize the tour.

Touring with Neal Doherty from Westport to Achill Island was a thrill! Neal's tours are informative, thoughtful, and unique! We learned so much about the area and enjoyed all his playful banter! We still talk about his Irish jokes! Neal even took the time to drive us through the Sky Road in Connemara and a quick visit to Kylemore Abbey, including a lovely bowl of soup there! (These were not a part of the original booking and were so much appreciated!) The day was full and he dropped us off in Galway at the end! He even gave us a book he wrote about Belmullet! We will return to Ireland and continue our ancestry search there someday. Thanks Neal, it was a wonderful trip!

Neal made our trip to Westport and a once in a lifetime experience. He has an encyclopedic knowledge about Irish history. Neal's quick wit and easy going personality made our visit to Achill Island and the surrounding area fantastic. We were able to see the areas in which we were interested, so each tour is geared towards the guests interests. I highly recommend Neal for a terrific once in a lifetime tour. He is a true gem.

This was our second day with Neal and it was just as amazing as the first. He is a true professional. He was typically attentive to our needs and interests, was very knowledgeable about the many aspects of the Achill Island area--history, geography, culture, economy--and included a number of charming stops like the Old Irish Goat Center! Plus he's a great raconteur of legends, etc. This is really a great trip out of Westport.

Your Westport tour itinerary

From your hotel we will travel around captivating Clew Bay with it's 365 islands. We will have some interesting stops at Princess Grace's ancestral home, Grace O'Malley's (pirate queen) castle and the ruins of Burisholle Abbey. When we arrive on the Island we will take the dramatic Atlantic Drive. We will pass through Keel, famous for kite and windsurfing, on the way to the enchanting Keem Beach. If you fancy a swim this is the place to do it, but it's not obligatory! We also visit the deserted village under the impressive mountain Slievemore (meaning big mountain). *We can take a trip by bicycle along the Western Greenway if you are feeling up to it! Great to get a bit of exercise before or after lunch. (Contact me for this option) *A visit to an Irish pub for an Irish Coffee or pint of Guinness is also an option on this tour. Lunch can be at a location of your choosing but I recommend a nice restaurant located on the Island. Feel free to contact me if you would like to customize this tour
