Borobudur & Prambanan – A Journey Through Java’s Ancient Heritage

Welcome to Yogyakarta! My name is Greg, and I would be delighted to introduce you to the culture, history, people, and everyday life of Yogyakarta and Central Java. Although my educational background is in Business Law, I soon realized that my true passion was not in the legal profession, but in tourism, hospitality, and connecting with people from around the world. My journey in tourism began at a travel agency in Jakarta. I later became an instructor at a tourism vocational school, teaching Tour Planning & Guiding, Airfares, and Ticketing, before being appointed Head of the Tour Department. I also had the opportunity to initiate and develop the school’s own travel agency. Later, while working in HR Administration for a Canadian non-governmental organization, I spent almost ten years in a multicultural environment. Part of my responsibility was organizing regional meetings and cultural activities, giving me valuable experience working with people from different countries and backgrounds. Today, I bring all those experiences together in something I truly enjoy: creating personal and memorable journeys for my guests. Whether you are interested in ancient temples, Javanese culture, local food, traditional villages, history, nature, or simply experiencing everyday life, I am happy to design a journey around your interests and preferred pace. I believe a great tour is not only about visiting famous attractions—it is also about understanding the stories, traditions, and people behind them. I enjoy conversations about many different subjects, and along the way I love sharing local stories, interesting details, and some of the lesser-known secrets that you may not find in a guidebook. When I am not guiding, I enjoy reading, having an afternoon coffee, watching trains and planes, and listening to music. I also enjoy singing—usually almost in the right tune—which is why I mainly do it in my bathroom at home!
