From a young age, I dreamed about speaking with foreigners and learning English, although I had never met anyone who spoke English and had only learned a few English words in school. When I mentioned this desire to my father, he was very surprised and said it was something I had inherited from him since he always loved languages and archaeology but never had the opportunity to study either. As I entered high school, I continued to dream about learning English and working at archaeological sites. My parents realized I would never stop dreaming about them and asked if I would want to study archaeology or tourism. When I said yes, they told me that they would sell their farm so I could study English and tourism and have the opportunities they never had. After high school, I studied tourism at a school called LICEO MAYA and later at University, learned English. I wanted to continue improving both skillsets, so I enrolled at an English school, while also studying tourism at a government institution called INTECAP. There, I gained additional knowledge and guiding skills and became certified as an official tour guide in Guatemala in 2011. I started guiding at that point and have led countless tours for groups of people from all over the world. Currently, I am tour guide number 987 in the country. Come and join me on a hike through the jungle to visit Tikal and other ancient Mayan sites. It will be an experience you won't soon forget. Remember that life is an adventure! Im a certified Local tour guide by the the Guatemalan institute of Tourism known as INGUAT with licence number #0987 and i studied tourism at the university (hospitality). No Restrictions!

In this tour we try to be the first one to be in Tikal to be able to hear the jungle (birds and animals) and hoping to see the sun rising. is a fantastic time since there are not many people. we walk for 40 minutes in the park untill we get to the top of temple 4 to sit down and wait untill is really clear, at around 6. 30am we start a visit to the monuments, learning about them and about flora and fauna, we also explain about the mayan civilization and history of the park. after we visit the site in 4 hours we go back to find a restaurant for lunch and then head to your hotel.

Elmer was excellent to work with both before, during and after and I rate him 5 Star (our of 5)! He patiently answered all my pre tour questions and came totally prepared. We did the sunrise tour plus an extended time touring the many pyramids and sites. He is very knowledgeable about the history, archeology and jungle life (plant and creature). The tour didn't end until we were totally sated. If I'm ever in his territory again, I will definitely book him as my first choice!
Elmer gave us the most fantastic sunrise tour of Tikal and I would recommend him wholeheartedly if you have a choice. I read outstanding reviews by previous users, sought him out, and he did not disappoint! Punctual, courteous, thoughtful and unbelievably knowledgeable, this tour was the highlight of our trip and left us with a vivid and unforgettable image and feel of Mayan life at Tikal. Not to be missed!
I could not imagine a better tour guide for Tikal than Elmer. He was knowledgable, attentive, and tailored the entire experience to our interests. He explained the history of the area, Tikal, and Mayan culture. He pointed out amazing wildlife and identified everything by its English, Spanish, and scientific name. We will be recommending him to everyone we know!
