Pau, the second biggest city in the Region of Aquitaine, capital of Béarn since 1464 is beautifully set between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic Ocean. The city is called the Gateway to the Pyrenees, because of its famous Boulevard des Pyrénées which offers a breathtaking view of these impressive mountains. Pau is also called the royal city because the good King Henry was born in its magnificent castle in 1553. The king for whom "Paris was worth a mass" and who is supposed to have said that he wanted every subject to be able to have some chicken in their broth. I invite you to visit one of the most beautiful French castles, admire the views from Boulevard des Pyrénées, and then taste some delicious white wine in one of the Jurançon vineyards. It is also possible to have lunch in one of the local restaurants.
I will meet you in the center of Pau or pick you up from your hotel or at the airport. -We will start our tour with a walk in the historic heart of the city around the castle - King Henry IV's birthplace, (if you wish we can also go inside). -Afterwards we will stroll along the famous Boulevard des Pyrénées. -Then we will have lunch in one of the local restaurants where you can taste some dishes from southwestern France (especially a famous Henry IV's chicken broth). -Our next stop will be Jurançon (about 20-30 minutes by car) and some wine tasting in this very famous vineyards area. It will be possible to buy wine in one of the local vineyards, so be prepared if you wish to buy some. Also I suggest including a customization option.
