Discover Béarn - a land of character Full Day Tour

In Béarn, the villages have kept their old charm. Heritage lovers will adore these places full of museums, art workshops, castles and ancient fortifications. The small town of Oloron-Sainte-Marie, located at the edge of the Aspe and Ossau valleys in Béarn, is one of the germs with its remarkable architectural heritage. Oloron can be visited in all seasons. From the Bellevue promenade, you can see the snow-capped peaks of the Pyrenees in winter. In spring plants come back to life and decorate the city, in summer the flowers invade the streets, and in autumn the whole district is tinged with orange. During our visit we will stop for a chocolate tasting at the factory Lindt. It will also be possible to have some wine tasting in this very famous vineyards area.

We can meet in Pau and then go to Oloron (about 45 minutes by car). We will start our tour admiring picturesque houses with their balconies overhanging the Gave d'Aspe. -Then we will stop for a chocolate tasting at the factory Lindt. We will also visit the roman-gothic Sainte-Marie Cathedral with its magnificently decorated portal dating from the 12th century. -Our next stop will be the medieval town around the Saint-Croix church dating back to the end of the 11th century. Here you can see the Tour de Grede, a tower from medieval times. You can climb the stairs to see lovely views, and then walk along the ramparts with stunning views across the rooftops of Oloron-Sainte-Marie and the surrounding hills. -We can also have lunch in one of the local restaurants and taste some local food. -On the way back to Pau we can stop for wine tasting in one of the famous vineyards in Jurançon.
