Bonjour! Welcome to Bordeaux ! My name is Julie, and I was born and raised in the countryside of Bordeaux, surrounded by vineyards. I moved to Paris right after graduation to work as a licensed tour guide for some of the most emblematic French monuments and sites (the Loire Valley castles, Louvre Museum, Normandy, and more!). It was an enriching experience ! When I came back to Bordeaux, I decided to specialize in wine (how could I not), and I'm now a full-time guide, who provides private wine and History tours with my minivan in the Bordeaux region, but also other areas such as the Dordogne, french Basque Country or the Arcachon Bay. I've always worked in tourism and I am a curious person, so I keep learning every day. Thanks to my experiences in various French regions, I will be able to adapt to your interests and customize THE tour you need. I am a very attentive person and I really want you to enjoy your time here. So do not hesitate to ask me for advice! I'm really looking forward to welcoming you to my region so I can learn more about you. My objective is not to give you a lecture, but rather to have a discussion to make it more enjoyable for you (and for me!). A bientôt! You have probably chosen to come to Bordeaux to discover and taste its wines, and that's perfectly normal. Our wine-culture is quite old, and dates back to Late Antiquity. We actually still make wine in some places that are full of history. Saint-Emilion is a charming medieval village, surrounded by vineyards where wine is now the main industry but also the main attraction. Since Late Antiquity, viticulture keeps changing the landscape, sculpting the terrasses on the hills which are now inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. You will discover this emblematic village by following its cobblestone streets. Then, I will take you to the subterranean monuments, which are on restricted access since they are privately owned. You will have the chance to have a look at the monolithic church and the catacombs carved in the limestone, in the middle of the town. Saint-Emilion will not have any secret left for you!
• Let's meet in the village, and start to walk through the narrow streets. • On the way, I will show you the main monuments : - the Collégiale church - the King's Tower - the main square • Then, I will take you on a private tour of the underground monuments, upon availability (I have to book) This itinerary is flexible depending on your needs and the availability of the underground monuments.
