Marvel at Philae Temple, High Dam and Unfinished Obelisk

Our group traveled with Maher Habbob in February 2026, and it was, without exaggeration, the trip of a lifetime. The marvels of Egypt are nothing short of extraordinary and Maher made it easy, fun and accessible. With over 20 years in the industry, Maher has an incredible network. He seems to know everyone at every site; his long-standing relationships with local guards allowed our group access to fascinating, "off-limits" secret areas that most tourists never see. These exclusive moments truly took our trip to the next level. From the very beginning, Maher was great to work with. Prior to the trip, he was very responsive through the ToursByLocals app, and later sent us materials thru WhatsApp to help us understand what we would be seeing. He was willing to tailor our itinerary to match our group’s specific interests. Once on the ground, he was punctual and organized. We traveled in a large, comfortable Toyota HiAce van with a dedicated, professional driver, allowing us to focus entirely on the scenery. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable and passionate about Nubia and Nubian history, for those that are interested in this aspect of Egypt’s incredible history. The "Maher Magic" - Two specific incidents highlight how Maher stands out from an ordinary guide. The Nubian Village: Maher arranged a special dinner in a local Nubian village that became one of the most magical, unexpected highlights of our entire journey. (We won’t spoil the surprise here, but it was great!) The Hot Air Balloon: When most local services were completely booked up, Maher used his connections to secure us a magical sunrise flight. We really appreciated his extra effort! Thanks again Maher for a Wonderful trip!

Maher is a wonderful guide who is connected to the place and history like no other guide we have had. He helped arrange everything we needed, insured that everything went well, and was easy to communicate with while traveling. He helped put together a custom two-day itinerary that had everything we wanted. We can not recommend Maher highly enough.

We had a very good experience with Maher in Aswan. Unfortunately we had to make several schedule changes at the last minute, but Maher made the changes for us with no issues. Maher is very knowledgeable about the region and the history. He gave us a lot of information about the area and the local culture. He is a very pleasant, patient and knowledgeable guide (also an author). Highly recommend him for a tour!

We (family of 2 adults, 2 children) had a very good tour with Maher Habbob. We visited Philae Temple, Aswan dam and unfinished obelisk. Maher is very knowledagle and interesting to listen to. We learned a lot - even the kids. After the tour Maher send a lot of books and reading (written or co-authored by himself). This was really great. I lost my phone in the van, which was desparate (air tickets + all communications was on that). Maher called the hotel shortly after, and we picked it up in Aswan.

We spent a very well-organised an informative day in Aswan and can warmly recommend Maher, both as a guide and also from an interpersonal perspective. He is a passionate advocate of Nubian culture with tremendous knowledge and has a clear way of explaining things. We especially enjoyed Philae temple and the nightly visit of the beautiful Nubian Museum, which Maher offered to show us in addition to the tour we'd initially booked. Thanks for everything!
