My name is Tihana, a licensed local guide and a lifelong Pula local. I have spent my whole life walking these streets, yet this city still finds new ways to surprise me. I suppose that's a good sign; I haven't run out of stories just yet. That's one of the reasons I love what I do. Let me tell you one thing about Pula. Most travelers arrive expecting a Roman city. What they discover instead is a place with more than 3,000 years of continuous reinvention. Roman, Venetian, Austrian, Italian, Yugoslav, Croatian - each era left its mark, shaping the city into what it is today. That makes Pula so special. Every tour reminds me that familiar places never look quite the same through someone else's eyes. Every town in Istria has its own personality, its own rhythm, and its own stories waiting to be discovered. I'd love to introduce you to the people who shaped these places. We'll meet emperors, artists, remarkable women, ordinary neighbours, impossible love stories, and the little details that make a place feel alive. I prefer to keep my groups small. It gives us time to ask questions, wander a little, share conversations, and experience each place together rather than simply walking through it. I hope that, by the end of our walk, you won't simply remember Pula; you'll leave curious about the rest of Istria, too. Welcome to Pula. Welcome to Istria.

Starting with pick-up in Pula, we'll discover a different side of Istria, where castles, miners, and artists shaped Istria. Our first stop is Svetvinčenat, one of Istria's finest Renaissance towns. Around Morosini-Grimani Castle, we'll uncover stories of noble families, medieval justice and local legends that still echo through its peaceful square. A drive through Istria's rolling countryside brings us to Raša, a remarkable mining town built in just 547 days. Here, architecture reflects the lives of the miners, from a church inspired by a mining cart to a bell tower resembling a miner's lamp. Our final stop is Labin, a medieval hilltop town where history meets contemporary art. Once shaped by mining, its quiet streets found new life when artists transformed abandoned houses into galleries and studios. As we explore, we'll discover the stories behind its walls while enjoying breathtaking views across Kvarner Bay. As with all ToursByLocals tours, feel free to personalize the itinerary to your interests.
