Overview of your Hangzhou tour
Join me on this private Hangzhou day tour to explore all three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, West Lake Cultural Landscape, and The Grand Canal. This journey spans 5,000 years of Chinese civilisation. We will visit the Liangzhu Museum to see artifacts from the prehistoric Liangzhu kingdom, enjoy a relaxing boat ride across West Lake to explore the iconic lake landscape cherished for centuries, and discover the world’s longest man-made waterway that that supported ancient China’s trade. Born and raised in Hangzhou, I know every hidden corner of this city. Along our tour, you’ll hear engaging tales about ancient kingdoms, imperial canal trade and local heritage, with deep insights into how these three sites together shaped Hangzhou’s unique cultural identity. It would be my great pleasure to share authentic local warmth with you, as we wander through thousands of years of Chinese history within a single day.
Your Hangzhou tour itinerary
We will meet within Hangzhou as you wish. Our route will be as follows: -West Lake Walk & Hand-rowed Boat Cruise Stroll along West Lake, then board a traditional hand-rowed wooden boat. (If unavailable due to weather, we will switch to a large lake boat.) -Grand Canal We visit Gongchen Bridge, the iconic stone arch landmark of The Grand Canal. We stroll the nearby Qiaoxi Historic Block, a canal-side pedestrian area with old buildings and local shops. -Liangzhu Musume We explore Liangzhu Museum, home to relics of the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City. We view jade, pottery, stone tools, waterworks remains and rice artifacts, including the famous jade cong, showing this prehistoric kingdom’s advanced civilization.
