We greatly enjoyed the Saint John's History Shore Excursion and surrounding area. Maila provided an excellent view of the fall foliage in addition to the unique attractions of St. John. Maila is extremely knowledgeable on local history and the Bay of Fundy. We learned about the reversing tides as school children, but it was incredible to see it happening. Maila ensured that we saw and understood the highest tide in the world funnelling in from the Bay of Fundy, and would not let road closures or construction prevent us from viewing the tide reversing at the end of the tour, Maila easily altering the route as required. The tour provided an in-depth education of St. John past and present. Equally fascinating were the stories about Maila’s youth and journey to Canada. It was a pleasure to meet Maila and we highly recommend this tour.

Overview of your Saint John New Brunswick tour
This is an in-depth tour of the city of Saint John, delving into the history of the arrival of Samuel de Champlain in 1604. We will tour the historic Prince William, which was designated a national historic street scape. You will hear tales of the Great Saint John Fire which occurred in 1877, and the rebuilding of downtown. Visit the Loyalist Burial Ground, active from 1784 to 1848. We'll have the opportunity to visit the Saint John City Market, built in 1876. See the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (built in 1899). The tour will include a drive-through of Rockwood park, Fort Howe, Reversing Rapids (twice, tides permitting), Martello Tower (built between 1812 and 1815). We will drive to the Irving Nature Park and have the chance to walk on a local ocean beach.

We loved this day! Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, flexible and helpful with us. My mother in law has mobility challenges and we had no issues. Even had a stool for her to get in and out of van. We saw everything on our list and shared a wonderful meal together in a local restaurant. Maila was outstanding, and I recommend!
Wonderful tour! We had an extensive tour of St. John including the history. Tour was timed perfectly to visit the reversing falls twice (both low tide and high tide) and the Bay of Fundy. Highly recommend Maila!! Excellent tour guide!

We will drive through the following places during our tour: Prince William Street, Rockwood Park, Fort Howe and Irving Nature Park. We can stop at each location upon request for photos and/or to further explore. During our tour, we will drive to these places to get off and explore: Queen Square, King Square, the Loyalist Burial Ground, City Market (washrooms here), Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Reversing Rapids (washrooms here), and, time permitting, Moosehead Brewery. Tides permitting, we will head to the Reversing Rapids twice to witness both tides.
