Saint John's History Shore Excursion

This is an in-depth tour of the city of Saint John, delving into the history of the arrival of Samuel de Champlain in 1604. We will tour the historic Prince William, which was designated a national historic street scape. You will hear tales of the Great Saint John Fire which occurred in 1877, and the rebuilding of downtown. Visit the Loyalist Burial Ground, active from 1784 to 1848. We'll have the opportunity to visit the Saint John City Market, built in 1876. See the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (built in 1899). The tour will include a drive-through of Rockwood park, Fort Howe, Reversing Rapids (twice, tides permitting), Martello Tower (built between 1812 and 1815). We will drive to the Irving Nature Park and have the chance to walk on a local ocean beach.

We will drive through the following places during our tour: Prince William Street, Rockwood Park, Fort Howe and Irving Nature Park. We can stop at each location upon request for photos and/or to further explore. During our tour, we will drive to these places to get off and explore: Queen Square, King Square, the Loyalist Burial Ground, City Market (washrooms here), Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Reversing Rapids (washrooms here), and, time permitting, Moosehead Brewery. Tides permitting, we will head to the Reversing Rapids twice to witness both tides.
