Overview of your Varna tour
Journey through 1,300 years of Bulgarian history on this fascinating day trip west of Varna. Our first stop is the ancient town of Devnya, once the thriving Roman city of Marcianopolis. Depending on opening hours, we will visit the Museum of Mosaics, built above the remains of a luxurious Roman villa. Here, some of Bulgaria’s finest Roman floor mosaics reveal the wealth and artistry of the ancient world. Continuing through the countryside, we reach the legendary Madara Horseman, Bulgaria’s unique UNESCO World Heritage Site. Carved high into a cliff in the early Middle Ages, this mysterious rock relief depicts a triumphant horseman and stands as a symbol of the First Bulgarian Empire. Our final destination is Shumen, home to the Monument to 1300 Years of Bulgaria. This colossal masterpiece of Socialist Modernism commemorates thirteen centuries of Bulgarian statehood and offers breathtaking panoramic views.
