I am Karl, a local guide, born and raised in the beautiful British Virgin Islands where I have lived all my life. Sharing the beauty, history and culture of my home is a passion of mine as I truly believe it is a slice of heaven on Earth. As the son of a local historian I grew up taking in the knowledge of our islands and way of life which continues to change with development. Energetic and adventurous by nature I enjoy exploring our Islands and surrounding waters. I am a licensed tour operator with my own transportation, this by law requires me to undergo annual training by the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board in customer service and hospitality. I also am required to take a physical exam annually. A Potter by heart and trade, myself along with my wife and son operate an experience based pottery studio where I teach pottery making, give demonstrations, sell our work and conduct tours. Through my teaching I have developed my natural empathetic abilities. I am usually quite good at "reading the crowd", picking up on the individual needs of those in the group and adjusting my style and pace to match. I was raised with strong moral values and believe in being honest, polite and courteous. I enjoy creating a bond with my guests and have actually made friends with a few that I keep in touch with from time to time. Funny enough I was actually encouraged by a couple that I once guided to look into ToursByLocals. As a tour guide I understand the need to be flexible and I always strive to give guests the best experience possible as I am not only representing myself but my beloved home as well. If you are curious about exploring the British Virgin Islands I would be more than delighted to guide you through this slice of heaven that I call home. Licensed Tour Operator in The British Virgin Islands BVI Tourist Board Gold Seal Training recipient Small business development course at local community collage HLSCC I am based on Tortola which is the largest island in our archipelago. I do not operate my own sea worthy vessel if you wish to explore any of our sister islands I can arrange a ferry or charter to accommodate this.

The Virgin Islands (U. S. & British) are looked down upon by this beautiful geological feature called Sage Mountain. Standing 1716 ft above sea level it rises from a ridge of hills that run from East to West which make up the island of the Tortola. As a born and raised Virgin Islander I have hiked this mountain several times and I'm eager to show you it's beauty! The parking area has a restaurant, gift shop and look out point giving lovely views of the islands to the north side. There is a short hike which leads to the actual park itself. The national park covers 96 acres and consist of about 12 marked trails which loop around the mountain. There is a trail that takes you to the highest point which offers better views to the south. Sage Mountain has been protected since 1964 and some areas of the park have remain untouched for centuries. It is one of the most green places on Tortola, an arid, windswept, river-less island. I would love to take you to the highest point of my home, please join me.
- Guests will be collected at their desired pick up location and taken to the parking area for Sage Mountain National Park. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase drinks or refreshments from the restaurant at the entrance to the park before the hike if they would like to. -A short hike from the parking area is required to get to park itself, before this we will take a view from the look out tower in the parking lot. -Once at the park it self I will give my recommended trails and a choice can be made of which trail/s. I will then guide you through the trails showing flora and fauna. The trails climax at the highest point of the Virgin Islands! -After exploration we will hike back to the parking area. If you wish, you can have lunch at the restaurant there. -Once all complete guests would be shuttled to their desired drop off point. * This tour can be customized upon request, please contact me.
