Leuven, a small city in surface but great in it's history. One of the eye-catchers is this precious gothic townhall from the 15th century, the grand beguinage, not to mention all the old buildings from the university founded in 1425. The treasury of the St. Peterschurch contains 2 original paintings, The Last Supper from the Flemish Primitive painter Dirk Bouts. Being a martyr city in the first world-war, a lot of traces from this period can be found, as well as from the helpful support of the USA. What about the beer-capital, where the biggest brewery in the world once started as a local brewery in 1366. History, architecture, students, beer and atmosphere: discover it all within walking distance!
The medieval center of the city including the townhall, The St Peterschurch, the medieval universtity buildings, the Old Market Place with the Kotmadam, the grand beguinage, the University library and much more. St. Peterschurch treasury is only possible during opening hours of the museum being from Tuesday till Saturday from 10am till 15 pm, on Sunday from 12am till 15 pm.
