Leuven Highlights and Hidden Gems (customisable)

Leuven has everything its more famous sister cities in Belgium (Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp) have except for one thing: the tourist crowds. At just 15 minutes by train from Brussels, this very walkable city has something for everyone. For history-lovers: a history dating back to the Middle Ages, including one of the oldest universities of Europe, but also more recent history, including the World Wars. For architecture-adepts: a 15th-century city hall that is often named the most beautiful city hall of the world. For amateur-photographers, there are so many picturesque places including the beguinage and a beautiful botanical garden, that deserve their picture taken. That's not all. Leuven was also named most innovative city last year and is a very lively city, a mixture of students and locals, with many places to enjoy the true Belgian life with a drink and a good meal. Did I mention it's also a beer city? The Stella Artois brewery has been in Leuven for centuries but there are many small breweries as well.
