Previously, I worked in adult education abroad and later I worked in Elementary education in Austria. I knew I' d be going into pension in the year 2018 and I wanted to stay active and work in a field which I would like as much as I had teaching. So I worked ahead by taking and completing an Austria Guide Certification in Linz. It included History, Art History and presentational skills. In 2017 I finished the exams. What helped, of course was, that as a teacher, I had planned many excursions in Linz and tried to bring History closer to the children. But the in-depth study of History and Art History during the Tour Guide course was surely an eye opener and it has become my hobby ever since, with a special emphasis on 20th century history, Jewish history, Women's Studies and Literature. Linz not only offers interesting history, it is situated right on the Danube and is surrounded by hills, Pöstlingberg being the most prominent. As I am married to an American, I lived in the USA for 15 years as a young mother. Then, the whole family resettled in Austria, close to Linz where I had studied earlier to become a teacher. I could see the city's transformation from a foggy industrial town to a modern, vibrant and family friendly place. We live just 8 miles outside of Linz, near the unique Rococo monastery of Wilhering. I was born in a small town on Lake Attersee, where I grew up and most of my relatives still live. Lake Attersee is located between Linz and Salzburg and can be easily reached by train. The lake area is known for its beauty and has been visited by many prominent people throughout history. Public transport is generally good and relaxing, and I can take visitors to my favorite places by train, bus or ship. While the lake is best visited by train, Wilhering can be reached also by a water taxi via Ottensheim and a ferry boat across the river. A city comes alive through the tales of its history and it is my pleasure to communicate this to travelers from near and far. I am an experienced guide and always eager to learn more. All my tours can be customized upon request, so feel free to contact me. Overview of your Linz tour

Linz cast away its ugly duckling image to become a beautiful and vibrant city and is still somewhat a secret. In Linz everything is close together: The old, the new, the art form of the Reformation, next to the finest art of the Counter Reformation. There is the school, which Ludwig Wittgenstein attended as well as Adolf Hitler and the street, where the family Eichmann lived next door to a prominent Jewish family. A moderate walking tour takes us to the highlights of Linz. After seeing the most important sights of Linz, and find out their role in the 20th century, we walk up to Pöstlingberg, the little mountain towering over Linz and get a good view from the top over Linz, the Danube valley and- on clear days to the Alps
