Private Aruba half day for max. 4 persons

Ester was a most interesting and entertaining tour guide. We learned about her history on the island and her early years as a flight attendant for KLM. She showed us some very interesting sights and we tried the local cuisine at a restaurant she selected. The car she used for the tour was very comfortable and had great visibility from both the front and rear seats. We enjoyed Ester's company.

Esther was very nice, knowledgeable about Aruba, and we enjoyed spending time with her. Overall, though, I would describe the experience as just okay. Communication leading up to the tour was inconsistent, and there wasn’t much effort to understand what our family was interested in seeing and doing, either beforehand or during the tour. For example, we spent time driving around a golf course and surrounding neighborhood, even though none of us plays golf or had expressed an interest in seeing that area. We also weren’t informed in advance that some attractions, including climbing the lighthouse, required additional admission fees. While these weren’t significant expenses, it would have been helpful to know beforehand. The tour also lacked some of the thoughtful touches we expected from a private guide, such as suggesting a particularly scenic spot and offering to take a family photo. Esther was friendly, but didn’t really connect with the younger members of our family. Ultimately, Esther was a very pleasant driver with good knowledge of the island, but the experience felt more like a private driving tour than a personalized guided experience. It was enjoyable enough, but not quite what we had hoped for.

Esther is an excellent tour guide and very knowledgeable of Aruba. We would highly recommend her if you plan to visit Aruba.

Book Ester your first full day in Aruba! What a lovely, relaxing way to discover the island! And…as a local her sense of Aruba’s history is very personal, she has answers to your questions and lots of suggestions of where to dine, where to have fun, and even some thoughts about what might be a waste of time. Ester is a gem!

We were in Aruba for a day on a cruise (March 2026) and wanted to make the most of that time, so we used Tours By Locals as we have many times before. Esther picked us up on time in her beautiful and comfortable SUV. She drove us to all sides of her island and told us about the history, the culture, the geography and the people. And we learned quite a bit about Esther’s life growing up on Aruba. Esther is friendly and informative and has a great sense of humor! We felt very safe in her hands, and in her car. Hopefully we will return to Aruba in the future and use Esther to show us even more of her island. Highly recommended! A+++
