Greetings! My name is Arta, and I am a Licensed Tour Guide born and raised in the UNESCO city of Berat, Albania. Growing up in this 2,400 years old historic city, with a rich family history rooted in one of its oldest quarters, gave me a deep appreciation for its culture, traditions, unique architecture, religious heritage and history from an early age. Over the years, I have developed extensive knowledge of Berat and the surrounding regions, knowing not only the main historical sites, but also the hidden paths, local stories, and authentic places with a timeless atmosphere, that make this area truly special. For several years, I have had the pleasure of guiding travelers from all over the world and sharing the cultural richness of Albania through carefully curated and personalized experiences. My tours are designed to feel personal, relaxed and authentic. I don't rush or rely on memorized scripts - instead, I adapt to your interests, whether you love history, photography, food, or simply exploring at your own pace - to help you actually feel the destination, not just see it. I look forward to sharing the unique charm of my city with you and providing an experience that leaves a lasting impression. See you in Berat! If you would like to experience Berat beyond the typical tourist route, this tour is designed for you, combining the highlights with a more personal and local touch. Together we will walk through the UNESCO neighborhoods, charming stone streets and the vibrant heart of the city while I share stories, legends and insights from local life, where different cultures and religions have lived together for centuries. We will also visit the Ethnographic Museum, offering you a deeper understanding of the traditional lifestyle, craftsmanship and cultural heritage of the region. What makes this tour especially unique is the final experience inside one of the oldest inhabited houses in Berat, located in Gorica neighborhood. Here, travelers are welcomed with traditional homemade products and hospitality customs that Albanian families have preserved for generations. During the summer months, I would not recommend starting the tour during the hottest hours of the day, as the temperatures can be quite high.
• Pick up from your accommodation unit, or at the center of the city. • We begin with a pleasant walk through the lively boulevard that connects the old and new parts of Berat. • Our walk continues toward the Saray of the Pasha , an elegant historical complex. • Going on, we will enter the Ethnographic Museum, offering insight into the traditional lifestyle and cultural heritage of the region. • We then enter the famous neighborhood of Mangalem, known for its white houses rising one above another along the hillside, where we will be able to see the city from the highest point of this quarter, to then pass through the narrowest path. • We cross the oldest bridge of Berat, connecting the historic neighborhoods across the Osum River. • On the other side of the river, we explore the charming Gorica neighborhood. • In the end we visit one of the oldest inhabited houses in Berat, where travelers are welcomed into a historic family home, rich in local history and tradition.
