Hi there! I’ve been calling Sapporo home since 2017, and for the past 4 years, I’ve been guiding travelers through Hokkaido in a way that goes beyond the typical sightseeing experience. Originally from Spain, I’ve lived in Italy, Canada, and Ireland before settling in Japan. This international background allows me to bridge cultures naturally, helping you not just visit Japan, but also understand it. Being part of a Japanese family and having close local connections has given me a more personal understanding of everyday life here. My tours are designed to feel relaxed, personal, and flexible, but also thoughtfully curated. Over the years, I’ve built routes that combine must-see highlights with lesser-known spots, local stories, and experiences that give you a more authentic sense of Hokkaido. As a father of two young children, I also understand how to adapt tours for families, making sure everyone feels comfortable and engaged. Many of my guests are particularly interested in food and local culture, and I often incorporate stops that reflect that — from fresh seafood markets to hidden local gems, craft beer spots, seasonal specialties, and places that show Hokkaido’s everyday food culture. I also understand that many private tours are part of a larger trip planned by a travel advisor or agency. In those cases, I’m happy to coordinate smoothly with the existing itinerary, adapt the day to the client’s pace and interests, and provide reliable local support on the ground in Hokkaido. If you’re looking for a tour that feels less like a checklist and more like exploring the region with someone who truly lives here, I’d be happy to show you around.

Emilio was a delight to have as a tour guide and has a very interesting background that gives him a unique perspective on life in Japan. He sent us a picture as to where we would meet when we disembarked the ship and he was right on time and easy to communicate with. Hakodate was the northern most city we visited. We did a complete walking tour. We started our tour at...

Thank you, Andy! It was a great day in Hakodate. The city really does have a lot to offer for a walking tour. I'm glad the ramen stop worked out and that you enjoyed the Motomachi area. I hope the rest of your cruise went well, and I wish you all many more travels ahead!

We did a tour of Otaru with Emilio. He met us at Sapporo station (and was amazingly calm and kind despite us being nearly half an hour late!) and we got the train over and back together. The locations of the tour were great, and really provided us with a good feel for the town and its culture. The tour also had a good pace – despite us starting late, we didn’t feel...

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review. I’m glad you enjoyed Otaru and that the tour felt relaxed and flexible. I also really appreciate your honest feedback about wanting more historical context. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future tours. It was a pleasure spending the day with you.

Fantastic tour! Emilio was very accommodating and energetic. This tour was a perfect length of time. Wonderful day seeing Sapporo! Loved the fish market lunch, and the mochi bean treat by the shrine. Thank you!

Great food and spots! Emilio was very knowledgeable in the area (odori/susukino mostly) - and adjusted the tour to various requests and preferences. Very kind and easy to talk to on any almost any topics, would definitely recommend if it’s your first time in Sapporo!

Thank you, Estepan. I really appreciate your kind words. I’m glad you enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere around Odori and Susukino. It was a pleasure adjusting the experience to your interests and having such an easy and engaging conversation throughout. That always makes the experience more enjoyable on both sides. If you do come back to Sapporo, a “Part 2”...
