MAURA B. Foligno, Umbria, Italy "Wherever you go, go with all your heart". (Confucius) I was born and raised in Umbria and, in my twenties, like so many young people, I packed my bag and traveled the world. I spent time in Paris, Istanbul, Madrid - in fact all the major European capitals and also spent several months travelling throughout the USA. On my return I began teaching Italian at the Università degli Stranieri di Perugia, then quickly realized that I wanted to share not just my language but also my passion for my heritage that is the natural beauty and the art of my land. I studied Art History and gained my Umbria Tour Guide's License 24 years ago and have never looked back. Umbria is a land of treasures! It is home to some of the most incredible pieces of artwork in the world. At the end of a working day I always feel a sense of gratitude and pride for the unforgettable experiences which I have been able to share with my guests… These might include a day of walking the cobbled streets of magnificent hamlets such as Spello or the feeling of being almost overwhelmed by the famous and revolutionary frescoes painted by Giotto in the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi; we might have finished the day by savoring a glass of Sagrantino together while admiring the breathtaking view of the gentle countryside. The choice of authentic cultural experiences which we can share is almost limitless. I look forward to giving you a unique gift from my Umbria. It's a gift which cannot be lost and I hope will continue to give you the sense of an invisible link back here to my home forever. Meeting Maura was such a pleasure! Our twilight walk felt personal and relaxed, like being shown around by a friend. We wandered through quiet neighborhoods and chatted with locals where she shared details and stories you’d never catch on a typical tour. We even had the lovely opportunity to speak with a gracious nun in the Cathedral of San Rufino. Maura’s insight and...

October 2026Thank you so much for your beautiful words. It was truly a pleasure to spend that twilight evening with you and to share a quieter, more intimate side of Assisi. I am so happy that our walk felt relaxed and personal - that is exactly how I love to introduce people to this very special town. Our unespected conversation with the nun in the Cathedral was one of those little...

Maura is a fabulous guide. She showed our group of eight women friends through Assisi and Perugia, and made both of them come to life. We didn’t think we could do both in a day, but she made it fabulous. She also pointed out where we could grab up a wuick delicious bite for lunch, and directed us in our cars to Perugia to ensure we would not get lost. She is very...

Maura provided a wonderful overview of the town of Bevagna. We learned about the importance this city once had in Roman times, about the different quarters and its artisans. We stopped at the candlemakers and learned about the trade and how the candles are made. We also were able to tour a medieval house and see an old mill in action. It was a such nice day of relaxing...
