I have been a Blue Badge Tourist guide for Wales since 2000 and for the South West of England since 2017. Originally from a rural background, I started working life in marketing and advertising in London but moved to North Wales in 1986. I also have several private individual clients. I believe that in the day of downloaded commentaries, the future for tour guides is their skill in adapting the day to suit the client, from academics wanting in-depth history to folk who just want someone to take their pictures in Instagram-great locations. Also, as it is easy to find out dates, figures etc. , what local guides can offer is authenticity and explanations, not just what you are seeing but what local people think of it, why is it there, etc. I look forward to meeting you! We'll pop outside to view fortifications and glimpse medieval life and then head straight to the churchyard to learn about some interesting graves and the wander through the streets of this medieval walled town with tales of local characters visiting all the instagramable places like the Smallest House in Great Britain and the pretty quayside.
