I have been a Blue Badge Tourist guide for Wales since 2000 and for the South West of England since 2017. Originally from a rural background, I started working life in marketing and advertising in London but moved to North Wales in 1986. Here, I ran a mountain centre in partnership with my husband for 26 years. I am a qualified mountain leader and still lead mountain and countryside walks professionally though now I am slowing down it is best for clients who like to enjoy the hike spending time looking at the view, the plants etc. I regularly work for ground handling companies on cruise excursions, tourism bodies on tour operators' familiarisation and press visits as well as guiding and tour managing for commercial tour operators on day and multi-day tours. I also have several private individual clients. I believe that in the day of downloaded commentaries, the future for tour guides is their skill in adapting the day to suit the client, from academics wanting in-depth history to folk who just want someone to take their pictures in Instagram-great locations. Also, as it is easy to find out dates, figures etc. , what local guides can offer is authenticity and explanations, not just what you are seeing but what local people think of it, why is it there, etc. I look forward to meeting you! I hold the Summer Mountain Leadership Certificate I am an Official Wales Blue Badge Tourist Guide I am a Federation of European Tourist Guides accredited trainer In Britain driver guides need lots of special paperwork. So I am not qualified to drive you. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Come join me on my favourite hike in the Snowdonia National Park taking in archaeological sites along the way. We'll leave the World Heritage Conwy Castle and walk up through the gorse and heather to the top of Conwy Mountain to check out the Iron Age fortress there ascending 1, 000 feet but we'll be rewarded by the views over to tLlandudno and across to the island of Anglesey. We then continue across undulating moorland crossing little streams and We'll probably see the wild mountain ponies and almost definitely the welsh mountain sheep. We eventually reach the Druids Circle - a site that's most definitely much older than when the Druids lived, dating back to neolithic times. We then follow old droving roads descending the mountain past old granite quarry workings down to finish at the bus stop where we'll take a regular bus (leaving about every half hour) back to Conwy. This hike lasts 4 hours and ascends(and descends) over 1000 feet and 12 km.. You'll need good hiking footwear
Meeting in Conwy town, we'll check you have all the clothing and equipment you need and then head out of town to hike ascending to the top of our first peak. - We head on across the moors sometimes over stoney or boggy ground until we reach our destination of the Druids Circle. - Then, it's off down through sheep fields and old quarry workings - We reach the village of Penmaenmawr where there is a pub, shop and the bus stop back to Conwy. - Buses go about every half hour. *Pauses to take breath enable us to enjoy the view. *As your tour is private, you don't have to worry about the pace because that'll be your choice.
