Dubai’s history dates back to the early 18th century when it was a small fishing and pearl-diving village. Established in the 1830s by the Al Maktoum dynasty, Dubai began to grow as a trading hub due to its strategic location along the Persian Gulf. The discovery of oil in the 1960s marked a turning point, transforming Dubai into a wealthy, modern city. Despite rapid modernization, Dubai has preserved its rich cultural heritage, with historic districts like Bastakiya showcasing traditional architecture and lifestyles. The city's diverse population and innovative spirit have turned it into a global metropolis, blending ancient traditions with futuristic ambitions.
We came to Dubai with no knowledge of its history or development eager to learn as much as we could and Sachin did an amazing job of giving us all we could have hoped for. The tour is very enjoyable and he is a good teacher. He was on time and attentive to our needs. I doubt you could do better for a guide and we have travelled extensively and used many Toursbylocals guides and highly recommend Sachin.
Despite a huge & unusual Dubai rainstorm, Sachin managed to include everything we wanted to see on our full-day tour. He was funny, knowledgeable and charming, a perfect travel companion. He was prompt in all of our dealings, showed up at our hotel on time and gave us (2 older women) an appreciation for the city that we didn't expect. He was always engaged and responsive to all of our questions. Yes, he is more expensive but he was certainly worth it. I highly recommend Sachin for your tour of Dubai.
Spectacular does not cover how wonderful Sachin is. His English is excellent. His driving is completely safe. His enthusiasm made the tour extra special. He fully accommodated every request we made. He covered the history, economy, and social structure of the UAE in depth. Our tour of the old city was comprehensive. Definitely select his tours! He is the best guide we have had during the fourteen years and multiple countries in which we have used Tours by Locals.
Sachin was a terrific guide- super knowledgable and had a great sense of humor! We all learned so much in 8 hrs and saw so much! Put your running shoes on! Although the UAE is more lenient than other Arab countries in regards to women's dress they are far from women's equality and we all found the stringent social rules and laws to be very interesting. We saw so much! my favorite was the future museum and the monorail on the palm.
We very much enjoyed our tour with Sachin. He was very knowledgable and even helped us negotiate prices on a few purchases we made. We also had a driver who was a pleasure. Highly recommend.
