I lived there for a few years before we moved to Cyprus and later Jordan. My family run their travel business and I have been involved in the industry since a young age. This story lies in its old downtown, when Dubai was once a village whose people relied on pearl diving and fishing. Let me take you in a journey of Arabia as it once was. Let's us walk together in the narrow streets, bustling markets and old neighborhoods. We will awaken our senses smelling the spices and traditional scents, taste street food, hear the salesmen calling us to their shops. Our eyes will feast on glittering gold boldly displayed on the windows. In this tour, we will explore the Creek Museum and we will walk through the old souks; the spice, gold and textile souk making our way to my favorite neighborhood, Al Fahidi Historical District, once home to wealthy merchants! This visit is a must for any guest of our city. It gives you a better understanding and completes the whole picture! Yalla!

Dana's half-day cultural walking tour of Dubai is fantastic -- a highlight of our trip. We had an amazing time with Dana getting to know the history of the UAE and the culture of the city. We have 3 kids and Dana did an incredible job getting them involved in the tour and pulling them into the learning. We had an immersive experience with local throughout the day. We started at a museum to learn about the history of the city and the culture. Then on to the spice souks, which was the highlight of the day. Dana took us to a shop where the owner engaged with the whole family about the spices, how to use them, store them, and how to know if they're fresh. It was great. We strolled through the gold souks and got to understand why they're so important to the city. Then finished with a great lunch filled with local flare. Dana was constantly pointing out things we certainly would have missed and was so generous in having us try so many local things.

Dana was a fantastic guide. She was very flexible in accommodating several changes to the timing due to challenges on my end. Once we finally met up, we started off with a superb breakfast complete with an explanation on its significance which is rooted in old traditions. The walking tour itself was very informative. Dana managed to keep us engaged and is well informed when it comes to the history of Dubai and of its founding from a village to what it is today. Great job Dana!
Your Dubai tour itinerary
We start the tour in the historical Shindigha District, visiting the Creek Museum. We then make our way using the traditional water ferries, the Abra, to cross between the two sides of the Creek visiting the bustling souks. We will be walking through the spice souk, a heaven for any culinary enthusiast, the gold souq and the textile souk. We will end our tour in the fabulous Al Fahidi District which has become one of the cultural hubs in our city. We end our tour in one of the most charming restaurants, sharing a traditional meal from the Middle East! This tour can be customized! Please message me and I will be happy to discuss!

- We will be navigating our way through the old streets of Dubai on our feet! -To cross the creek water separating our old souqs, we will be hopping on an abra, a traditional wooden boat. These abras are the oldest modes of transport in the city, if you neglect the camels of course, and they are currently engine operated!
