Explore Abu Dhabi your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Abu Dhabi tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Abu Dhabi for every interest, including:

History tours: Walk through Qasr Al Hosn to see the watchtower and exhibits that map the emirate’s growth, then compare artefacts at the Cultural Foundation next door or visit the Heritage Village to watch traditional crafts and hear pearl-diving stories along the Corniche.

Layover tours: With 4–8 hours between flights at AUH, you can visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, make a photo stop at the Corniche and Emirates Palace, and swing by Louvre Abu Dhabi for its galleries or even just the canopy and sea views, with your luggage secured in the vehicle and timing planned around traffic and prayer hours.

Religious Sites tours: Take time at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque while your guide explains dress requirements and symbolism, then continue to the Mary, Mother of Jesus Mosque and St. Joseph’s Cathedral, or head out to the new BAPS Hindu Mandir to see its hand‑carved stonework and learn how worship practices differ.

Getting around: Sights sit far apart and buses are slow, so walking isn’t practical; ask your local guide about tours with private transportation or book a chauffeured tour for a smoother day.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Abu Dhabi inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Abu Dhabi

Use Abu Dhabi as your base and branch out to nearby cities and desert landscapes; these day trips fit smoothly with private tours so your tour can lean toward culture, nature, or modern landmarks.

Dubai: Split your day between Old Dubai’s creekside lanes and souks, then the Marina and beach districts for skyline views, a good mix if you like architecture, markets, and fast-paced city energy.

Al Ain (Oasis City): Walk shaded paths in the Al Ain Oasis, explore Al Jahili Fort and the palace museum, then drive up Jebel Hafeet for wide desert views, a calm choice for history lovers and families.

Liwa Oasis, Empty Quarter: Head into the Rub’ al Khali for rolling dunes, date farms, and long, quiet desert roads, timing the return for late-day light over the sand, which suits photographers and anyone who enjoys scenic drives and open space.

Sharjah: Stroll the Heart of Sharjah heritage area, visit respected museums and arts spaces along the water, and take in a slower scene than Dubai, ideal if you’re drawn to culture and thoughtful conversation.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Abu Dhabi most travellers miss.
