The Rwenzori Mountains National Park also called Mountains of the Moon is located in Western Uganda Kasese. Hiking Rwenzori is interesting, you will pass through different unique vegetation zones, the lower slopes are covered in moorland, bamboo and rich, moist montane forest, huge tree-heathers and colourful mosses are sighted across the mountainside with giant lobelias and "everlasting flowers", creating a beautiful scenery before you reach the highest point that's Margherita Peak at 5109 Meters above sea level. The first time I hiked Rwenzori to the peak, I thought that I might not make it due to the rough slippery rocks and too low temperature in negative degrees that make you want to drop your backpacker or turn back. However, the hike is not for beginners, it requires you to be fit and have ever hiked. At 5109 meters you're filled with joy and the sense of accomplishment that rejuvenates you and whips all thoughts of doubt in life. You can't miss this on your bucket list of mountain hiking in Africa.
