Sawadee kha! (Thai greetings). My name is Cholada - pronounced chon-la-da. I was named after the Thai province of Chon Buri where I was born. A German expat once said my name sounded like 'schokolade' in German. Another German colleague used to call me 'Orchidee' which means orchid, indicating my nature of being 'well flourished in the forest', not dissimilar to where I am now. Though, I very much like to think of myself as a gecko - a well adjusted and well camouflaged living creature who could make the most of every situations. I grew up in Sukhothai and have spent most of my lifetime here. I have encountered a number of twists and turns of circumstances that have enriched my life experience. I graduated in Agricultural Science from Chiangmai University and subsequently worked in this field for three years. My career paths have completely changed after I joined Save the Children and then the German Technical Cooperation Organisation based in Thailand for almost twenty years. The focuses of my career at the time included: small scale agro-industry development, solid waste management, clean development mechanism(CDM), and renewable energy around Asia. I am currently based in Sukhothai as a freelance consultant. In collaboration with my local networks, we have formed a small local development club aiming to support and enhance locally based agro-economic development initiatives from the grassroots level. I have been involved in providing technical advice and organising tailored study visits and excursions for executives, expats, guests, international interns and VIP delegations. I am the main contact for those groups and organisations for Sukhothai area. I was trained to become a tourist guide by the Association of Thai Travel Agent (ATTA). I am a passionate local tourist guide who will impress you with the best experience of Sukhothai, which will make you want to come back for more. By using my service, you will automatically help to sustain the development of our grass root groups and villagers and enable them to learn about western and other cultures. 'Whatever happens is for the best' - is my personal philosophy. My other interests include Tarot card reading, cooking, SCUBA diving and eastern herbal medicine and healings. I have almost twenty years of experience working in the non-profit and development sector. I have organised countless trips and excursions for visitors to all over Thailand and Sukhothai.
