Maria "la Serrana" is my artistic name as a flamenco dancer. I have my own dance company and tour around the world. When I am in Seville, I teach too. I have been teaching since 1996 and I opened my dance school in Seville in 1999. I am an experienced teacher with both Spanish and foreign students, both absolute beginners as professionals. What I like most is to introduce people to flamenco, see their faces as they get to understand the feeling and tell about the history of this wonderful art. It really makes a difference when you know a little more about the Spanish history and how that had is influence on this wonderful art. Some people love flamenco just by seeing it, and others have to learn to love it, and I will be happy to show you and answer any question you already have or that might pop up. As most of the artists in Seville are my colleagues, I can surely get you a meet and greet, so that you can share your experience with them. Most of the time I will dance myself, since I dance three times a week at my own stage, but I will always ask you beforehand if you would like me only as a guide or both as a guide and an artist. You will get a real inside-experience of flamenco. Since I have lived in England and Holland, I speak English and Dutch too, and some French and German. I hope to see you soon and give you a real Flamenco experience. As a dancer I studied with Farruquito, for eight years, and later with Manuela Carrasco and Matilde Coral. Lately with Adela Campallo Antonio Canales and Manuela Rios. I have been teaching around the world as well, for example in Holland, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Turkey, Malta, Portugal and Usa (New York). I toured the world with 10 productions by Compañia Maria "la Serrana" at important theaters and flamenco festivals I am not a Licensed guide and will not be able to guide you inside of the historical monuments. I do not have a drivers licence.

Overview of your Seville tour

I am Maria "la Serrana", flamenco dancer and teacher myself. Since 2004 I am the director of my flamencocompany with which I tour around the globe, and since 2012 I am the owner of my own flamenco stage . I can give you an insight into flamenco art that few people can, because of my knowledge of the history of Spain in general, flamenco art un particular AND because of my work with a huge group of the best flamenco artists from Andalucia. I am part Dutch, part Spanish so I can tell you lots about the way in which we experience flamenco in family style. Off course, after a nice chat I will take you to the best show in town. You might see me dance, but de might visit a stage of my collegue or family. With my experience I can always book the best artists of the moment. A special touch is that sometimes you would see me dance too. After the show I will take you to a taxi with instructions te get you home

Maria is a treasure. No visit to Seville is real without time talking to her, walking her beloved Triana, and sharing the stunning voice, guitar and flamenco of Seville. The small Flamenco tablao lets the audience immerse themselves in the performances. Truly out of the body experience! Maria is simply to be experienced. Lovely smile, expert in all things Flamenco and Seville, an exceptional woman! We are blessed she makes herself available in sharing her world and experience. And on a weekend evening a local performer joined. He brought everyone on the dance floor one way or the other. Little boy, amateur Flameco dancers and singers, an happy birthday song for an aunt. Everyone having a great time!

We were in Sevilla for 1 week and everyone agreed that our Flamenco evening with Maria was the best part. Maria warmly greeted us and told us about the history of the area, its people and its dance. We then enjoyed an excellent flamenco show in an intimate venue. It was a true delight. Our party consisted of teenagers and parents, one of who is in a wheelchair (but can walk very short distances).

Maria met us at our hotel & we walked & talked a bit, had coffee which was included and discussed her Gypsy origins and family dance culture. We did a quick exploration of the old neighborhood, ducked into a small authentic bar. She did a quick change & a floor was put down for she & another dancer &2 other musicians. The show was a little under an hour, a drink included. Really got a feel for what flamenco once was. We enjoyed that aspect. The tour is more of a discussion. To compare shows would be fun.

Hi Maria, We enjoyed your tour of Triana and found the history of Flamenco very interesting. The local bar we went was frequented by locals and our introduction to tapas was excellent. The small venue for the Flamenco performance was just the right size, it was good to sit so close to the performance. The passion of the singer, guitarist and your dancing was inspiring. We give you 5 stars.
