Walking Tour Palma - Half Day

Have you ever wondered: What is Mallorca famous for? What is the language of Mallorca? How many different civilisations have conquered Mallorca? Together we explore the main streets and avenues, the alleys and the hidden sites of Palma. As a local tour guide, I will show you the old town of this great city, combining history, architecture, heritage, culture and much more. This tour offers a historical introduction, covering the origins of Palma: the ancient Roman city, its transformation into the Muslim city called Madina Mayurqa, and its conversion to the Christian city: Ciutat de Mallorca, up to the modern city of Palma de Mallorca. All of this, combined with the architecture of its most emblematic buildings, such as the Cathedral, the Royal Palace of Almudaina, the Town Hall, and the Palace of the Council (la Lonja). The tour ends at the Mercat de l'Olivar, the biggest food market in the old town.

• The walking tour begins in front of la Lonja, one of the Gothic jewels of Palma, the old Headquarters of the Merchants Guild. • From there, we will go to Parc de la Mar and Hort del Rei, where we can contemplate the exteriors of the Royal Palace of Almudaina. • In front of it, and by the city walls, there is our spectacular Cathedral and the Bishop's palace. • Then we walk through the streets and alleys, finding the most important buildings such as the Townhall and the Council of Mallorca; the main churches of Palma as Santa Eulalia parish church or the Basilica of Sant Francesc; or the manor houses, called Mallorcan Patios. • Moreover, before the last stop (the Olivar market), you will find the main Modernist buildings and the Plaza Mayor.
