Excursion over the Julian Alps

Awesome day through the Julian Alps! We loved our day with Elizabeta. This is one of the best ways to experience a handful of different lakes, hikes and viewpoints around the Alpine region of Slovenia. We started with the lovely Lake Jasna in Kranska Gora. I enjoyed visiting the Russian chapel on our way up to Vrsc Pass. Very grateful for Elizabeta's expert driving up the tight mountain roads! One of my favorite parts of the day was our stop at the small village of Trenta. We enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch there surrounded by the mountains and broad meadows. We ended with a pleasant hike near the Soca River where we were able to enjoy a dip into the river. Beautiful experience! Elizabetta is a special guide who knows all the mountains and towns like old friends. She is a pleasure to be around--warm, conversational, strong, and always attentive to the presence of nature. She offers different options for the day according to your ability and interest. You will definitely enjoy your day with her!

We had a fantastic day with Liza! She was so energetic and knowledgeable about the area. And, she was able to pivot when the plan went a bit awry and we had more adventures to talk about! Highly recommend her for all types of outdoor fun!!

We were booked with Elizsbeta H. We were contacted by her after booking. This morning we got a message from another guide, who informed us she would be our guide, and that Elizabeta was overbooked. Our guide was great, we enjoyed being with her. We met Elizabeta at a stop with a couple from Pennsylvania she was guiding. On our return to Bled we gave our guide a tip and were then told that Elizabeta said there was an additional E 100 for transportation ( basically to cover our guide using her own car). I have never experienced this with Tours by Locals. We paid it because our driver said it is what Elizabeta told her. However I find this unacceptable. Once you book on line and pay by card there should be no additional charges unless you are asking for something extra, which we did not. The rating of a 4 is because of the extra 100 euros we were charged.

Elizabeta gave us the customized friendship-style photo tour we wanted. She drove us safely through the fantastic scenery of Triglavski National Park of the Julian Alps with visits to historic St. Joseph's Church and the Kostnica or Italian Mausoleum. She introduced us to fast food Slovenian-style and shared how she dealt with the COVID pandemic--a area of common interest. We loved the car train and seeing her vacation home. She shared with us her love for the mountains and is a wonderful guide.

Liza's passion for exploring + sharing the beauty, wonder + magic of Slovenia, is what made the "Excursion over the Julian Alps" a truly unforgetable adventure.
