My name is Luis, I am a Certified guide with 20 years of experience working all around my beautiful country. I enjoy history, nature and adventure tours, here in Panama you have the advantage of having beautiful beaches, lush rainforest, history, culture and much more at short driving distances. I started working as a guide in 2003, working for most cruise ship lines arriving to Panama. I have a Bachelor's Degree in International Business and Human Resources, however I only worked for a few years in the "Corporate world". I love showing my country and help travellers have amazing experiences in Panama and show not only the "touristic" places but also look for the real flavors and culture. I am a resident of the historic district or Casco Antiguo. I fell in love with the magic of the place with all its history and cultural activity and I am eager to share it with you. Thank you for choosing my country as the place to enjoy your vacations! A perfect opportunity to visit an indigenous village in the midst of the wonderful natural setting that supports in harmony their lifestyle and traditions. The Embera indigenous people still live today as many decades ago in their original homes deep in the Darien. Learn about their traditional dances, music, singing, use of plants and flowers as natural medicine, construction of their housing and many more customs they are still practicing.
In the morning you will be transferred to Port Corotu on the shores of the Alajuela Lake, we will board a motorized dugout canoe up the Chagres River. Once upriver we will have the opportunity of swimming in the clear waters of the river right in front of the village. Once at the Embera village, you will be welcomed by the community with music and will hear an explanation about their culture, history, art, crafts and much more. A traditional lunch will be served (fried fish and fried green plantains). Before leaving we will experience their music and dances and we will have the opportunity to shop around their handcraft market, you could also get a temporary tattoo.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
